Thesis

The paper is meant to look at the debate between airport security and privacy. The paper will illustrate my stance that airport security should take center stage and privacy should be of less importance in comparison to the greater good of the security of the country.

Airport Security vs. Privacy

In the case of airport security vs. privacy, it goes without saying that security of a nation should be more important than the privacy of individuals. Airport security is established to ensure the safety of individuals on a plane, and if the element of privacy must be violated, then so be it; as it will ensure the increased security on the planes and in the airport.

Privacy should be overlooked in the case of terrorism, which is primarily a reason for the need for airport security to violate the element of privacy. It is a known fact that terrorists are finding new means of concealing weapons to board airplanes, and some of the means include hiding weapons in private areas of the body. It is with factor that it is essential for the need to use elements like the x-ray machine that can look through individual garments. This factor is for the greater good of the country.

Another factor is in the case of drug trafficking. Drug peddlers are constantly seeking new means and ways of getting hard drugs into planes so that they can transport from A to B. with that in mind it is important for the airport security carry out searches that will allow them to fully analyze individuals that may be boarding the airplanes. The violation of privacy can be considered to be a security risk that can be advantageous for increasing security on the plane. The question is would you keep your right to privacy for risk of the possibility of death on the airplane? I think not.
