Why English Composition Classes Should be required at Al Faisal University

The need to teach and incorporate English composition classes is an indispensable element that would add value to the expressive and communicative competence of college students in Saudi Arabia. English is considered a foreign language in region. Learning it would offer and avail potential benefits to the Saudi students in their future endeavors.

Learning English will not only improve the university students’ fluency, but also challenges their ability adapt to new environments. This precisely includes settings that mainly use the English language for writing and communication. The students at Al Faisal University, just like any other college students, are expected to read and write English.

English learning is critical and necessary for student’s to communicate and interact with other individuals without any difficulty or misunderstanding. Learning English at an early stage in life is also essential for training and professional development of the students studying degree courses at the university. It is important to sharpening the student’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills (Verghese, pg. 25).

Conclusively, learning the English language would improve the students’ ability to compose proper and accurate English syntax that would allow them to read a wide range of documents and books. Proper planning and curriculum implementation methods would go long way towards ensuring that students acquire appropriate English knowledge that yields positive results.
