Alessio Brown: Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, Essay Example

Alessio Brown’s article “What Does the Evidence Tell Us About Sexual Harassment in the Workplace?” analyses the manner in which women are most prone to workplace sexual harassment. Brown provides evidence as to how men with higher positions in regards to jobs usually interact with women without their consent. Clearly, this is a problem that must be provided with a solution in order so that the problem ceases to exist in the near future. The article also discusses how the government has placed several market incentives so that more effort is placed into putting a complete stop to sexual harassment in the workplace. Seeing as how the problem has become prevalent in the United States today, Brown explains how there are multiple individuals who are putting their time and energy into putting a stop to this once and for all. Particularly, the article shows that there should be more sexual harassment enforcement so that the perpetrators of the sexual harassment as able to face the consequences they deserve and so that, ultimately, events like these do not take place again. Brown discusses how companies should take it upon themselves to enforce a “no tolerance” for sexual harassment policy so that workers understand, from the very beginning, that any act(s) of sexual harassment are highly disapproved of and that they will be dealt with accordingly in a negative manner. Through this, there would be no misunderstanding from the workers in regards as to exactly what is expected of them. These kinds of regulations are a necessary so that sexual harassment is driven from the workplace and so that sexual harassment as a whole can be avoided in the near future.

Brown recognizes that a big problem with sexual harassment is the fact that there are so many countries around the world that fail to acknowledge sexual harassment as a true problem. This is exemplified by the way in which there are many countries who do not have any laws against sexual harassment n the work place, therefore making harassment prevalent throughout their respective regions.
