Essay

“Situations of Being Unjust in a Multi-Cultural Society” Must we respect in all differences?

Living in a multi-plural-culture – a society with amalgam of people, with different traditional backgrounds and viewpoints always helps to communities to live life freely. This kind of living allows everyone to share their ideas, opinions with each other. They explore new trends, new dimension to see the whole world or even a single piece of work. Development always welcomed by this sort of living. Societies which have these qualities also lead towards an un-conservative community; people starts thinking in a new way.

People share their thoughts, complimentary communicates and their all actions bring prosperity and development in a multi cultural society. They also help to promote tolerance among different cultures. Different masse keeps different prospects but they do not hesitate to share it with others. This thing leads towards a prosperous multi cultural life and non-discriminatory society in a more peaceful way.

On the other hand, multi cultural societies also brought disadvantages with it, instead of advantages. When people hesitate to communicate with others, draw a line to not disturb our identities; do not change their living style, distinguish theirselves. These conditions allow unrest to ruin the living style of people in a multi cultural society.

An American humanities activist and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Jr. raised his voice against this kind of living and multi cultural societies. He has identified the reasons and conditions of a person, in which unjust occupy the society. A group of clergymen criticized him for interloping in the affairs of his living town. They started a campaign against him called “Call for Unity”, in response to their call King written a world known letter “Letter from Birmingham Jail”. Explaining the reasons in which he suffered. His letter was considered as a literary by people. Letter’s thesis statement was based on his life. He has marked the situations with logic, emotions proving by ethical laws.

Making arguments on a statement, in front of a person always bring conflict in a multi dimensional society. When this conflict comes to multi cultural society, adverse persons use it as a tool to take revenge and labeling each other as an “Extremist”. This was a reason which compelled King to react, on labeling an extremist. He has also presented examples of heroes from past whom were also labeled as extremist in their times. He has provided names of Apostle Paul, the great Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Jesus Christ. He offered many causes to build a logical ground by calling himself a person from extremist society. He further explained that if he is an extremist for raising his voice for freedom then all of mentioned personnel were also extreme persons as well. King has given an examples of the Birmingham police activities in which policemen tortured the protesters but he has not provided any authentic proof of happening this event.

Accusing each other also bring unjust to a society and alarms the harmony of people. Society personnel accuse each other without providing any evidence and then insist to make themselves right. Same was happened with King when clergymen opposed allegations on him but King has denied it with giving first hand information of incident. He further claimed that he was predicting the white people to rescue him but they found him an accused person and showed their reluctance and confrontation. Credible first hand information always is acceptable and considered as reliable, he has provided too, but convicted.

In every prosperous society masses has freedom of religion. They can do everything related to their religion, according to religious laws. This factors counts a lot for making a society unjust or a person too. Making restrictions and building hurdles in religious affairs always invites public emotions to boom. King has also addressed an issue of this kind in his letter with his comparison to Apostle Paul. He said “carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town”. Handbook of Saint Martins also explained an  emotional plea of mixture” our emotions reminded us of deeply held values”. His sentences grabbed the attention of society by passing this history making event for his purpose. He has mentioned the conditions of southern churches in his letter that they are well furnished but the leaders who offer their religious rituals are discriminating the humanity and he is wondering that how they worshiping by acting like this.

Unjust in the society and injustice to justice and different ups & downs of unjust events created a prominent phase of slavery in American history. After passing this era, signs of these events are still be located in US society. These happenings market the black people as an ordinary nation – servants of white people. Adding into fuel, Jim Crow’s law spread oppression among the communities and disappointments to citizens that lead the society towards separation. Historian C. Vann Woodward mentioned his laws as:-

“That code lent the sanction of law to a social ostracism that extended to churches and schools, to housing and jobs to eating and drinking. Whether by law or by custom, that ostracism extended to virtually all forms of public transportation, to sports and recreations, to hospitals, orphanages, prisons and asylums and ultimately to funeral homes, morgues, and cemeteries.”

In multi-plural-cultural society, different people have their own views, their own interests according to their needs because different people have different way of livings. This is a vital factor among multi cultural societies to bring unjust within. This factor results breakdown of departments, economic deficiency and disagreement between civil societies. Bad governance always welcomes injustice to society. It is the worst form of governances but easily traceable in every country. For reduction of unjust conditions from society, state has to enhance their roll from administrative structure to systematic resource allocation.  These changes can bring democratic growth, nonviolent and dispute resolution system and an establishment having capabilities to make a nation building process with the involvement of masses and legal values.

In different countries, different socio-cultural societies have a skimpy role to change existing legal and political systems. Change of government departments allows political participation to enhance democracy. In this form different societies struggle for creating reliable political values up to the mark of political parties’ satisfaction, in multi cultural societies. These kinds of government keep the power to alleviate the effects of violent intra-state conflicts and potential to remove future disputes.

Undisciplined and untrained societies are also a natural part of societies that always create conditions of unjust.  In many societies, these sorts of personnel avoid to join government departments and endeavor to work solely. It could be a businessman, trade unionist, female departments, and holy places including human rights activists. Separation of these societies creates trouble for federal institutions to resolve social evils from the society. In their opinion community ties and civic life has no meaning for them or forgotten. In this case, if civil society does not play its role then it starts the conditions of unjust to society. Thinkers suggest that making a society strong is possible when all members of society address prominent social evils such as critical unjust, poverty alleviation, violence and trouble and environmental control. Healthy society depends on dialogue and reconciliation, promote good governance for bring peace to societies.

Structural changes always invite to make healthy communities and civil societies. For promoting public involvement these actions helps a lot. They become vehicles for institutions for endorsing policy decisions but also for development of citizenship. These tests contain forums for reliable public involvement and opportunities for civic people to share their opinions with public celebs, and other form of governance.

In different socio-cultural communities, balance of power also helps in making unjust situations. Infra-structure of social communities that made un-equal power of relationships mostly dispels common groups, the opportunity to involve in decision making process that controls them. Reformation of political systems has to help the common groups to consult solutions for detailed structural problems. In Europe, for example peacekeepers working with the Community Justice Department are serving with racial minorities engaged in society’s conflicts starting from schools and the police. Mostly they are helpful to the minority groups for clearing their accusations and omitting them from higher authorities. Peacekeepers continuously communicate with them and bring changes in society to long term developments most commonly of behavior and ties, in result. Making a balance of power to the gender groups, racial or sexual bigotry and injustice possible is a part of change. International funding agencies and national groups also held different events to make available these groups participation into political process.

Bringing social values to a mixed cultural society is a long term procedure. Through democratization process, many countries are seeking to complete their targets. With achieving these goals a society can be a balance cultural society. The establishment of democratic government like political institutions, voting tools, and court procedures can help the mechanisms for power distribution and the proper balancing of political and economical power. Strengthening institutions might also inherit judicial reform, the institution of free elections and the building of a permanent human-rights ombudsman’s office. These departments should carry out just transparent procedures and provoke open and contributory democratic processes. These procedures can lead towards the balancing of power structures and enhancing engagements in political structure.

Following the other cases, groups desire to call patchy economical development and transform the process of class and property relations. In America, for example, there have been accretions of racial discrimination, leading to educational reforms and skill divergence that result in further economical disadvantages. There are also finance, property, and other monopolistic accretions that are hard to deal with in the absence of focal changes to existing departments. These kinds of systemic issues demand structural changes if they are to be generally done. Such alterations might include redistributions of educational links, job trainings and housing as well as redistribution of finance through tax reform.

Causes of unjust among institutions or groups are mostly developed from malfunctioning of social structures. These structures can sometimes be restructured through nonviolent strikes and peaceful political recruitment. History provides many samples of socio-political activities that designed to fundamentally change current political and socioeconomic reforms. Many of these structural changes changed the balance distribution of power between different social cultural groups, led to enhance political involvement and rectified systemic forms of unjust.

Labor power such as sanitary workers, carpenters and masons etc… plays a vital role in bringing unjust in a society. When needs of common people disturbed by government then it brings unjust in society with their reaction. Management of these people struggles also seek to reform economical structures and alter oppressive power ties between different cultural societies. The American New Deal, for example, used nonviolent methods to change the distribution of economic power between dominant and subsidiary societies. The New Deal’s labor legislation compelled larger interstate corporations to be familiar with and to good deal with labor unions and blocked unwanted labor activities. These fresh labor policies affected to outlaw the utilization of the working class and improve severe economical disparity.

However, it is blurred whether more essential socio-cultural changes can be made by peacefully working within the current system for eradicating unjust from societies. Most of the people believe that when political and legal reforms support unequal power ties, working under a framework to sustain reform are unlikely to succeed. According to my point of view everyone must have to respect other in every circumstance. This is the road to bring prosperity among different cultural societies. Till the sweeping out these conditions, a society never will be a balance society and incidents happened in Birmingham like Martin Luther King Jr. will be a common practice in an unbalanced society. Still there is a utmost need for more revolutionary tactics.
