America Today: The Founding Fathers’ Vision? Essay Example

America in 2015 is profoundly different than the Founding Fathers had envisioned centuries ago due to the dissonant epochal contingencies that have manifested. Indeed, the original Constitution grafted slavery into its fundamental tenets vis-a-vis the 3/5 compromise with regards to political representation. As such, epochal concerns are reflected in the original document, and a guiding ideology can be gleaned from the original text. By looking at the various political, economic, and social doctrines articulated by the Founding Fathers as evident in the Constitution, it is clear that the Founding Fathers would not approve of America in 2015 due to the appropriation or misappropriation of various ideologies and fundamental values touted by the Founding Fathers themselves. The Founding Fathers, an extraordinary group of eighteen men who committed their lives in order to devise a cogent blueprint for the nation which was touted as the first document of its kind throughout western history for free individuals, can arguably be said to have been torn asunder by the efforts of politicians today.

The Founding Fathers of America believed that the federal government should be kept small and less intrusive in order for citizens to truly reap the benefits of their liberty and freedom. Doing so would grant citizens the agency to dictate what they did in their lives and in the lives of their families. Unfortunately, contemporary politicians and political ideologies advocate for the lives of denizens in America to have their lives governed by the will of both non-elected bureaucrats on Capitol Hill as well as by elitists who have the resources to gain political clout and agency in the contemporary political climate. The greedy and power-driven politicians today are currently trying to comprehensively transform the America as envisioned by the Founding Fathers due to nefarious purposes of control.

By combining the image of the United States in 2015 with the one envisioned by the Founding Fathers, it is unequivocal that the Fathers would have called for another revolution in order to liberate its denizens of the United States due to an internal  fight between the government and the people the government purportedly served. Benjamin Franklin, one of the Constitution’s Founding Fathers, cogently opined that the Fathers devised a Republic for the American people if and only it can be preserved. It is clear in contemporary America that the politicians in charge in the federal government of the United States failed to maintain the Republic envisioned by the Founding Fathers, which is why in 2015 there must be a radical evolution in order to maintain their status as a “model of charity” in the words of John Winthrop in addition to maintaining American exceptionalism—which the Fathers yearned to preserve this paradigm of American supremacy–which remains a fundamental strand of the American ideology.

At the inception of the nation, it was perceived by the Founding Fathers that the best political structure and mode was that Congress should be in session for a minimal amount of time because doing so was better for the American people by fomenting a level of trust in citizens and a sense of self-determination in various elites that were not in proximity in Washington D.C. However, recent events such as frivolous hearings that require eleven hours of testimony regarding various issues such as reproductive rights. Such long congress sessions indicate that the Founding Fathers were absolutely correct amongst other dissonances that are conspicuous in America society in 2015.
