An Aboriginal Language, Essay Example

Nyungar is an Aboriginal language spoken by the Noongar community in Southwest Australia, my home country. The 1996 census recorded 157 speakers, which increased to 232 by 2006. This statistic is rare in tribal languages with a significant focus on Oceania. But a beautiful signifier of hope. I analyze data statistics and translate them into economic means to understand how I can best aid and benefit individuals in hierarchical systems. Progression through data translated into digestible colloquial terms. In Noongar “Moort” means family. Dependent upon the Eurocentric Latin context you descend from. This linguistic example highlights cultural and contextual differentiation in meaning. In French, Dutch or Spanish, it translates as “murder”. As a Dutch-French Australian, l speak all of these languages fluently in addition to English. Culturally this aids my well-rounded perspective. I learned basic Noongar due to my work in Western Australia for Change the Record. I was born to a Dutch father and a French mother in Australia. My father worked in mandarin in international real estate, primarily focused on Oceanian and East Asian investment. Whilst my mother helped teach English to Lebanese students. Splitting my life being raised between Hong Kong, Urban/ Rural Australia, America and Europe has changed my perspective on international relations linguistically, culturally and inter-dimensionally by noting inherent differences and similarities between sociopolitical, economic, political, and patriarchal differences. Globalism is key to my core. I have travelled independently to every continent except South America. Internationalism teaches the most simple and beautiful fact that we are all humans. The defining nature joins us in an emotional bond similar to that of the physical seen in Pangaea.

The diagnosis of my sister’s bipolar moved me back to Australia from America after my 2020 undergraduate graduation. It taught me to value my favourite Chinese proverb ?????????. — A book is a garden you carry around with you. My creativity in statistical presentation from my Undergraduate degree attracted former Australian Greens party campaign advisor Sophie Trevitt. I helped her build the “Change the Record” campaign for indigenous Australians. The pandemic brought me to work in global and domestic economic growth analysis and statistic research for both businesses at Oceanian- Asian business SHEAD whilst simultaneously volunteering in Australia’s only national Aboriginal led justice coalition of Aboriginal peak bodies and non-Indigenous allies. Here, I helped promote justice to uninformed Eurocentric Australians with evidence-based statistics on how nationally and internationally we can end the incarceration of and family violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. My Master’s Degree in International Relations was born from the conflict and tragedy my Australian blood endured within Meganesia.

Change internationally has been at the forefront of everything I do. However, the approach is what I focus upon in my mathematical equation in creative thinking, evidence-based content in digestible, comprehensible delivery for all. That is how Change is formulated. Painting a picture that everyone can understand. My undergraduate dissertation was inspired by historiographical thought constructs outlined by ancient Confucian poet Wang Wei. His book 19 ways of looking at Wang Wei invites outer context and critical thinking models through understanding context bias. Through this modular construct, I focused on the significance of Libertarianism in thought constructs within the west and the critical analysis of homogeneous ideologies upon symbolic liberty devoid of western patriarchal theology post-1989 Iranian Revolution. This thesis formed statistical analysis results that showed significant international ignorance. This inspired the mock development of an educational app, “Okie from Oklahoma: How not to be racist.” for American children to learn about cultural history and geography through a game that aimed to dress data-based research in digestible bites to then address ignorance as a harness to aiding in progressive thought from a young age on equality. I created it during the 2020 Covid outbreak to aid in creating support for future judicial and civic reform. This app was created to help teach children the importance of cultural appreciation within a modern 21st-century context.

For my Master’s thesis, I am eager to expand my research in creating digestible strategic formula resolutions to end the incarceration of and family violence against indigenous Australians within the chauvinistic constructs of post-colonial British Australia. I want to expand this research to further international communities around the world. For my Master’s internship, I have already secured mentorship advice from former Australian Ambassador Joseph Hockey. I have worked as a research associate to develop economic plans for funding projects that target Indigenous Australian priorities, including supply chain connectivity and structural reform, supporting economic policy research and analysis and aiding in project management reforms to improve overall effectiveness. I assisted Sophie Trevitt in consolidating this research to create digestible economic plans for funding northern territories with indigenous Australians to stop the life expectancy differentiation of 7.8-8.6 years between indigenous and non-indigenous individuals. I was awarded The Trevitt Family scholarship to financially support my Master’s Degree. The need for Change within our Oceanian context on an international scale is at the heart of progression within the southern hemisphere.

The importance of progressive Change from an internationally renowned institute like New York University in International relations sparks the attention of community members across my country. The format of the NYU master’s in international relations with a focus on international politics and business education reinforces shared diverse academic makeup in the creativity of class construction in thought that relates to the times to expand students like myself and progress the stagnant injustice and inequality within homeland mindsets. During the pandemic, being back in Australia brought my desire to use economic understanding to light for equality. This cemented my ten-year plan to reconstruct the Southern Hemisphere diaspora of Australian Oceanian economic illiteracy. My work as a research growth analyst with Sophe Trevitt caught the attention of Hugh O’neill for SHEAD Property Investment in Sydney. Through simultaneously working and volunteering for Change the record, I developed effective, comprehensible ways in centralized reporting on statistics business with trade from the south and east Asian relations with Oceanian business further taught me the business skills needed to internationally coerce culturally with Taiwanese, Hong Kongers, Beijingese, South Koreans and Japanese. These international skills made me a stronger domestic volunteer for Change the record.

Throughout the past 2.5 years, I have been helping Sophie Trevitt and Shead. NYU will help me form connections within my strongly focused concentration in international politics and business. NYU stands out in its course layout through target study schedule in the Quantitative Analysis I, INTRL-GA 1120, the Qualitative Analysis I, INTRL-GA 1220, Regional and Comparative Politics, INTRL-GA 1450 and The World Economy, INTRL-GA 1900. These will aid my future and final thesis in understanding how to tie all information together beautifully. Nyu’s creative strategy in thinking critically and analyzing through a historiographical approach to the fact from the internal analysis of context provides students with an understanding of the global system’s past, the tools to function effectively in the present, and the ability to respond to future developments. The program recognizes the changing nature of the contemporary political and economic environment and seeks to lay an interdisciplinary basis for understanding these changes. It provides students with an opportunity to study the complex web of transnational politics in-depth, interdisciplinary fashion. The breadth of courses is designed to match the breadth of knowledge and skills that the field requires. The program combines a foundation of core courses in politics, economics, and statistics with international relations and political economy classes.

With my experience living and working abroad in Australia, Hong Kong, the USA, The Netherlands and France, I understood that I could successfully live and work in unexplored cultural dynamics. I have additionally seen the battles faced by females in this field, and my moral qualities and upbringing rouse me to defy these stereotypes and work in a field dominated by a male chauvinistic society. I love to study and bring people closer together through conflict resolution. This course will help me better understand people and eventually work to resolve disagreements and tensions on the global stage. Two western European immigrants raised me to look forward to working with several companies over the next decade or so, serving as an economic analyst or investment consultant for international companies, setting up new branches and solving financial problems. A Master’s Degree in International and Development with a focus on international business will help me fully understand many complex issues in economics plaguing progression. NYU is my first and only choice for graduate studies due to its stellar program and elite social network of development professionals.

My undergraduate studies helped me to grasp much of the big picture, enough, at least, that I am confident that development studies are the correct career path for me to be loyal to my closest held ideals. I especially appreciate the focus of your program on the market forces that affect developing countries within the cosmopolitan city of Sydney underneath the Oceanian- pan Asian mindset of globalization for progression. My aim in pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations at the Graduate School of Arts and Science is to enhance my current analysis and problem-solving skills in international politics and international economic relations. Thus, by pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations, I will be able to develop and identify the structural forces behind today’s geopolitical chaos. Change The Record taught me how to synthesize large amounts of information and analyze sources to formulate well-reasoned arguments – skills that I believe are vital for a future in international relations. NYU reflects creativity in thought and progression within a city that aids thought to repaint an image. I have developed an understanding of contemporary political and societal issues and my ability to analyze political theory critically.
