Essay

Critically appraise effective strategies for nursing leadership from an ethic-of-care perspective

What does nursing leadership mean? How does leadership in nursing affect the overall criteria that are considered in applying ethical considerations that help nurses become more concerned about the ethical values of the patients they give attention to? These questions entail to provide a basic foundation on the understanding needed to be given attention to especially in relation to how care for patients is given particular concern. In maternity nursing procedures, ethical considerations are given high concern especially for the sake of saving the lives of both the mother and the new born while respecting particular cultural issues or religious traditions that the patients may feel compelled to follow (Curtis, 2011). As a nursing aide to these patients, it is essential that a determinable course of recognizing such value be given concern (Abraham, 2013). Management of chaos during the actual process of applying medical operations to assist the patient is an essential part of the approach to good nursing practice. Making sure that the patient receives ample attention amidst the chaos and the tumultuous points of the situation is an essential part of the nurse’s primary responsibilities.

Choose a specific strategy and relate it to your current advanced nursing practice experience

The application of the non-complexity concept of nursing is one strategy that would help in determining how one nurse could avoid the emergence of system commotion when dealing with emergency situations as well as particular points of chaos that often the whole staff at a halt (Curtis, 2011).  In the field of maternity nursing, it is important to note that risks are a part of child birth and somehow, it is this consideration that basically entails the creation of good strategic approach in making a definite change on how matters are handled in the middle of a chaotic situation in the delivery room (Abraham, 2013). Whole everyone else may be panicking, a good maternity-nurse knows how to stay calm, keep herself together and be more intuitive in leading the way towards applying the necessary solutions instead of becoming overly consumed with the emergency situation.
