An HR Alignment, Essay Example

Essay

An example of an individual who is successful at leading and implementing change is Bill Gates. Although it at first appears that Bill Gates is a successful leader due to his wealth, it is essential to understand that he achieved greatness due to his wit and ability to run a company. Microsoft is a widely successful corporation that achieved its status due to Bill Gates’ dedication to knowledge and his company. Even though Gates is a smart person, he knew that he alone could not run the company successfully; he therefore hired many skilled personnel to assist him in the specialized areas where he lacked an understanding. As a consequence, I believe that the three most critical components of leading and implementing change are the ability to recognize where there are gaps and knowledge, being able to identify the ideal personnel to fill these gaps, and development of a training program that aligns employee knowledge with the goal of the organization.

To be able to achieve these aforementioned goals, it is essential to be a “good leader”. According to the article “Change Leadership”, a big challenge in leadership is getting people to actually change their behavior (Kotter, 2005). Bill Gates is well-known for having a friendly personality and truly caring attitude to his employees, so it is likely that the success of his organization comes naturally; since he treats employees well, they want to perform well for him, which increases the success of his business.
