Ancient Egypt Civilization, Essay Example

Introduction

Egypt is considered as a familiar, renowned and impenetrable ancient civilization which is traceable back to 3000 B.C. (Kevin 2012). This civilization endured for three consecutive millennia and the fame it had at that time makes it a recognizable ancient culture even at present. However, this civilization reached an abrupt end in terms of popularity and the constituent of this end has remained a mystery even today.

Rising Factors

Egyptian civilization dates back 6000 years and was attributed to their settlement along Nile River banks which conferred to them an extraordinary geographical as well as cultural unity leading to a sturdy sense of identity with respect to their heritage. They strongly held a belief of life after death and made buildings from stone and brick which was a fashion at the time (Kevin 2012). Egyptians were also perfect shipbuilders as well as sailors and could effectively predict the seasons of the Nile flood from charts. They also learnt medicine and could perform surgical operations and healing remedies.

Their access to the Nile River was the basis of their huge productivity of food. The Nile brought rich silt deposits from Ethiopia. Their ability to predict the flooding empowered their irrigation in fertile valleys which consequently resulted to the production of surplus foods which was sufficient to feed their dense population and leave more for their social and cultural development.

Decline Factors

The most convincing explanation of the decline of the ancient Egypt civilization is associated with the natural instinct inherent in potential satirists for self preservation with a failure to adapt. Reluctance to technological change was a common feature of the ancient Egypt civilization and this was a potential cause of their decline. There are no notable changes in technology between the Old Kingdom and the New Kingdom which can be traced about 1200 years later (Tyldesley, 2001). This can be reflected in the essential weapons that were used in which case, no technological innovations were documented. The only notable change in this respect is notable in the chariot which was also an innovation of a different place. The ancient Egypt civilization underwent a series of wars including the Agincourt and the Second World War without military innovations.

The same case of lack of technological innovations applied in the construction of permanent buildings. Wealthy settlers acquired massive forts but the local groups were extremely primitive and depopulated. There was a common belief that for a person to enter the afterlife, it was imperative that they be buried in Egypt. This idea was an impediment to development because relocation outside home zone was hampered (Dodson, 2000).

The ancient Egypt civilization were also reluctant in adopting new ideas from other parts of the world and only held strongly to the belief of their gods as the maker of the perfect Egypt and potential adoption of outside ideologies was dishonorable to their divinity.

Conclusion

The major factors behind the decline of the ancient Egypt civilization therefore are attributed to their reluctance to adopt technological as well as philosophical changes. Any adoption of changes was only meant to meet their short term objectives. As compared to other civilization in Asia and Mediterranean region, that embraced innovations of technological ideas as well as their assimilations, the ancient Egypt civilization were a failure in this respect which placed them in an out-classed and antiquated world panorama.
