  1. If I had to take a long car ride with either Victor or the Creature, I would probably choose the Creature. While it may not be his fault, Victor seems almost cursed, as if creating the Creature was such an evil thing to do that he can never escape it. The Creature is obviously not perfect, but he seems more like a victim of the strange circumstances that brought him to life. And since there are plenty of people, but only one Creature, it would be a once in a lifetime chance to get to speak with him.
  2. There was no specific section that was unclear to me, but I did find the story itself to be overall slightly confusing. There were so many different characters telling their version of events, and these stories were told mostly through letters, that I sometimes got confused as to who was speaking and how their letters were supposed to have ended up in the same place.
  3. I found the Dracula story to be a little bit easier to follow. If I had to choose one section from the first four chapters to ask about, it would be the section in chapter three where Dracula talks about history. He talks about different characters, like Atilla, and different races and tribes that have conquered Transylvania over the centuries. I wasn’t sure exactly what the point of that was, because it didn’t really explain anything more about how Dracula became a vampire. So it wasn’t actually confusing, but I wasn’t clear as to why it was there.
  4. Jonathan Harker is the young lawyer who visits the Count in Transylvania and sets the story in motion. He is probably the least interesting character in the story, especially when compared to characters like Van Helsing and Count Dracula. Still, the author gives Harker some good qualities, such as curiosity and courage. He may not have the same education or experience as Van Helsing, but he still shows courage when it comes time to go look for and fight the Count. He is a very normal person stuck in very unusual circumstances. Some people might run away in fear, but Harker does not. In a way, that makes him more interesting.
  5. There was one part of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” that I found somewhat confusing. I understood before reading the book that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were actually the same person. In the book, Dr. Jekyll explains that he made this potion because he wanted to separate the two sides of himself, the good side and the evil side. What I never really understood was what he hoped to accomplish. Was he hoping to always just change into his evil side when he wanted to? Or was he going to maybe stay that way forever someday? And if his good side decided to bring out his evil side, isn’t that decision actually an evil decision being made by his good side?
