Introduction
Abortion is a complex issue that has many different facets and raises a number of controversial questions regarding the ethical nature of this practice. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the efficacy of abortion and whether or not it is the appropriate decision to make under specific conditions. There are two primary sides to this issue, one of which supports personal choice and the freedom to have an abortion and the other which indicates that abortion is an act of murder. Each of these arguments has its merits; nonetheless, abortion is a serious right to life issue and all human embryos and fetuses are worthy of life.
Part 1
Women are free to manage their bodies and their health as they choose; however, they should not be permitted to terminate an embryo or a fetus, both of which are living entities, no matter the circumstances. Human beings at all stages, including embryos and fetuses, are “morally significant,” whereby they represent beings who will grow and thrive as thoughtful and mature humans in the future. Regardless of the situation, embryos and fetuses have the right to life and the right to grow and to be born into the world, as this is a fundamental and morally standard right that all women have, regardless of their religious or personal preferences that influence their decision-making ability. Therefore, liberty does not equate to the right to kill another human being, regardless of its current form and level of physical and mental development.
Part 2
Simply put, the decision to kill another human being, regardless of its stage of life, is purely unethical and inappropriate, regardless of the circumstances. Therefore, from a moral rights theoretical perspective, all living human beings have a duty and a responsibility to preserve the lives of other human beings because if this is not the case, then this is in direct violation to this basic moral duty. Since human life begins with an embryo which grows into a fetus, the intentional killing of that embryo or fetus is ethically irresponsible and morally reprehensible on every level. This is an important premise to consider when making decisions that have a significant moral and ethical impact on the ability to preserve humanity in its original and intended form.
The moral and ethical duties of human existence are relatively simple and include the necessity to preserve human life at all times. Under these basic conditions, when this premise is violated in one or more forms, it may be difficult to accept the realities of these circumstances because they violate basic duties and premises that govern humanity. The duty to save lives and to preserve the human condition is not exclusive to the outside world, as this same premise is indicative of the needs of basic humanity within the womb. Once conception occurs, it is critical to make decisions that will have a positive impact on human beings, and this does not include the right to terminate a pregnancy and to commit murder.
Part 3
Abortion is the intentional killing of an embryo or fetus inside the mother’s womb. This is in direct violation of every moral and ethical framework that is designed to protect human life in all forms, especially inside the womb. These efforts are important because they provide a greater understanding of the challenges and considerations of human existence that some might argue does not occur until outside of the womb. This is clearly not the case and represents a challenge to the right to life, particularly when women make the intentional decision to have an abortion, in spite of moral and ethical frameworks that demonstrate otherwise. This is a clear challenge for many women; however, it represents much more than a challenge, as it is a moral and ethical decision with many serious and permanent consequences. Therefore, abortion is murder because it terminates a pregnancy and a human life within the womb before it has a chance to enter into the outside world.
Conclusion
Supporting a pro-life position provides a greater understanding of the challenges and issues that are relevant for many women. When a woman decides to have an abortion, she is intentionally killing her unborn embryo or fetus, and this represents a morally unforgivable and reprehensible act. It is a woman’s duty and responsibility to preserve the life of another human being as it grows in her womb, and any violation of these circumstances is unacceptable. These concerns are relevant because they impact women in different ways, particularly when a woman makes the decision to end the life of her unborn child without any consideration of the life that is growing inside of her. This is a challenging set of events that poses a significant risk on basic humanity and the duty to preserve life at all costs and under all different types of circumstances. These efforts and basic duties are critical to successful decision-making and in determining how a basic right to life is instrumental in preserving the life of all unborn children. Regardless of religious persuasion, the right to life must be preserved in order to give all human beings a chance to be born and to grow outside of the womb into productive and relevant children and adults.
