I am putting this down in writing with the utmost respect, and I send my apologies to you in advance because I will not be attending a few important lessons this coming week. This is for the reason that I will be going to two different events: Film Screening of the HER movie and Digital Detox by the class of Intro to Media Studies. Following the attendance of these two events, I will come up with a two-page reflection paper based on what I have learned from these events and who was in attendance. I give you an assurance that I will comply with your expectations and finish the topics from the classes that I will miss, and I will borrow notes from one of my classmates.
The first event I will attend is known as the Digital Detox by the Introduction to Media Studies class, where learners in MS 100 will have an experience of Digital Detox by spending 24 hours with no electronic media. The event will incorporate the construction of reports and stories as an innovative reaction to the experience of Detox. Students will share graphic novels, videos, comic books, short stories, and collages in poster sessions (University of San Francisco 1).
The second event I will attend is the HER movie screening. This event will be an advance movie screening of HER, an Oscar favorite, starring Joaquin Phoenix, directed and written by Spike Jonze. The movie talks about technology and how people can utilize it. However, the movie is originally a love story, which investigates the evolving nature of intimacy, and its risks in the present world. I trust that the events will be of value to my learning and will be an inspiration to critical thinking with reference to the function of technology in society, culture, and identity (HER).
