Application for Radiology Program, Essay Example

Words: 673

Essay

Radiology is an ever growingfield that I would find myself grateful being a part of. It is mind blowing how much a simple image or CT scan can answer these days. Radiology technicians bring answers and resolutions to worrisome and confused patients. In a simple scan you can find many answers to the perpetuating and puzzling questions doctors are presented with every day. It is no wonder why this field is so competitive. I would like to be in the radiography field for that purpose, to serve and be able to diagnose a suffering confused patient. We have so much skills in the hand of doctors and technician but it is also important to present a comfortable and assuring environment for our patients.

This is why I believe I will be a great part of the team. I have worked many years with the public and most people in time of need just require comfort; to feel that not only is the staff and hospital they have chosen is capable and knowledgeable but also understanding and supportive. I want to bring this into people’s lives, dedicate myself to helping the ones in pain or are sick. I believe it is God’s purpose for his children to be building blocks and comfort to each other; and with the aid of my technical knowledge in relation to the function of the technology that supports the advancement of how medical diagnosis and treatments could be improved, I believe I am allowing myself to become a part of the building block the establishes the society’s base foundation for progress.

How did I come to like to be in connection with the field of medicine and healthcare functions? I grew up in a small farm town in Central America. Coming from a very religious family I have learned to care, not only for myself but for the wellbeing of the people who surround me. I have been in restaurants and retail business for almost 10 years. In those 10 years I have learned how over anything else, people want to feel cared for. They want to feel like they matter and in this field, it is important to put that idea before anything. Patients deserve an environment of comfort and an essence of practical assurance that their needs are to be attended to and that their ailments would be cured through the application of modern and effective forms of medical technology.

In this case, I believe that Mercy Hospital is an amazing place for which I will always be grateful for. Years ago my grandmother got very sick and passed away back in our country. The whole family was distraught but I got a call from my uncle telling me that there will be a prayer for my grandmother at his workplace, Mercy hospital. I showed up and sat through the readings and the prayers as small as that detail may seem, it meant a lot because nobody in the chapel knew my grandmother but there they were, praying and comforting our family. Strangers, people I never met before, comforting me, telling me God has a plan. This is the reason why I would be so grateful to be accepted into this program. I have a respect for the field, the patients and a deep respect and gratuity for the hospital.

From this experience, I knew that giving comfort to people is essential. The fact that people are assured that what they are going through could be resolved; or the simple understanding they have over the things that are happening to them, comfort is built upon themselves, thus creating distinct insistence on how they are to face life’s adversities accordingly. I want to give hope through giving factual and evidence-based information; and I believe that through the use of the technology of radiology in medicine, I find everything else effective in setting a stepping stone for me to become more effective in determining my condition of responsibility in place of how good diagnosis could be met with the aid of modern technology.
