Appreciating Live Music, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 229

Essay

Listening to jazz music while lounging; this is the type of setting that the piano playing gig of Mr. Rich Hill caters to. Being a soloist in The Majestic Restaurant, Mr. Hill plays his songs in a good ambiance with full control of his environment. Such condition makes his jazz presentation more inviting and specifically soothing to the ears.

Three among the songs he played included The Nearness of You, Moon River and Tangerine. All three selections have distinctively slow tempo accompanied with a creative setup of notes both for the sake of playing the tune and for vocal accompaniment.

Mr. Hill gave life to these three particular songs that I heard first from my parents. Being a bit sentimental as I am, I realized how strongly these songs also relate to Mr. Hill’s history. When I tried to interview him, he told me that those three songs were special to him that is why he played them in his own rendition with a personal touch on the way he presented the vocals of all musical pieces. This particular condition of singing is rather common especially to jazz musicians due to the fact that this type of musical arrangement is most often than not relative and sentimental to those who are playing it. It is from such personal bearing that this genre of music becomes alive and appealing to the listeners.
