Research Paper

Clinical psychology is the scientific study of the purpose of assessment and treatment of mental notes.  The site integrates psychology and treatment of complex human problems.  Most accepted clinical psychologist, have a PhD in psychology.  There are three main approaches in the field of clinical psychology.  [1] psychodynamic approach [to] completed behavioral perspective, and [3] humanistic perspective.

With family systems it is considered that individuals are best understood with the interaction of the entire family.  The symptoms normally being seen as a dysfunction within the family group.  The symptomatic patterns are normally passed down through the family, across generations.  The family therapist uses a systematic perspective, and as such therapist will change the family systems in order to change the individual.  This is achieved by creating dysfunctional patterns in different functional ways of interacting.  There are a number of treatment.  These include the following for a for our:-

Adlerian Therapy: ” focuses on the feelings of self that arise from interactions and conflicts. This sense of self can also be called ones ego. The ego is the central core of personality; it is what makes someone an individual. Adlerian therapy is a therapy of teaching, informing and encouraging the client, in order to help the client fix basic mistakes in their personal logic, and the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative one.”  (Psychology Campus, 2008).

Existential Therapy: ” The aim of existential therapy is to encourage clients to reflect on life, recognize their range of alternatives and decide among them. The goal is to make people realize the ways they passively accepted circumstances and surrender control in order for them to start consciously shaping their own lives by exploring options for creating a meaningful existence”. (Psychology Campus, 2008).

Gestalt Therapy: ” Uses an existential approach and considers a clients “here and now.” The initial goal for a client is to gain awareness of what they are experiencing and doing at that time in their life. This type of therapy encourages the client to directly experience a situation rather than talk about it. For example, if they experienced childhood trauma, they will be encouraged to become the hurt child rather than just talk about it.”  (Psychology Campus, 2008).
