Essay

Introduction

The field of archeology has varied definitions but a commonly agreed definition is the study of the human past. This would help in providing vital information about the past of human beings. It entails ways of life, evolution, and origin of human related disciplines. There was the initial objectives of anthropology that were the construction of cultural chronology. This forms the intermediate purpose or objective which is the reconstruction of past life ways. Archeology has the ultimate goal in the discovery of the processes that underlie and condition the nature of human behavior.

Discussion

Archaeology is alternatively known as Archeology which is the  a science that is well suited for studies in the fields of biology, botany, history, art, psychology, geology and chemistry. It helps in solving a great understanding of the past or historical life system of mankind (Aldenderfer and Maschner 117).

However, there are controversies in these studies whereby many historical countries have laws and legislations in place to ensure that their historical heritages are not misused, exported or destroyed in the field of archeology. This has led to the development of acts that intend to repatriate any form of country’s looted heritage and legacies. In the United States of America for example, the state government organs are keen to the relevance for the archaeological studies and excavations where there is any development project. Such projects include the commercial or state sponsored which uncovers the evidences of historical human life and presence (Billman and Feinman 121).

There are many developed projects and studies that are of certain geographic areas and disciplines like the marine and underwater archaeology. There are number libraries reference materials, academic departments, organizations, publications, museums, and other endeavors (Aldenderfer and Maschner 128).

Conclusion

In essence, the human past is pertinent because it covers a very wide spectrum of period in human life. Some of the futurists describe the science fiction to be archaeology of the future. The subject grows as a science and it continues to add other new disciplines to the roster for instance geo-archaeology and urban archaeology.
