Research Paper

This term is a disorder that is usually associated with the development of human behavioral patterns and is mostly referred to as neurobehavioral by practitioners, this has been primarily been associated with problem related to attention which bring about hyperactivity (Lavin Et al. 2006). Because these behaviors are not synchronized they occur frequently on their own.

This disorder is mostly accounted in children and mostly in many cases it is diagnosed psychiatric disorder and globally its accounted for affecting bout 3-5% of the children, this has been reported that its common in the ages of seven years and is a common children disorder chronic, those diagnosed with this disorder at childhood still harbor symptom till late in their adulthood and is estimated that 30-50% transit the ADHD symptoms to adulthood (Brown, 2006).

Since my childhood I sustained a closed head trauma which also referred to as TBI (traumatic brain injury) that made me to experience attention deficit disorder (ADD). According to Brown, (2006) behavior of someone with attention deficit disorder mostly appears before age 7 when a child shows difficulties in learning in early years. Researchers have also established that about 60% of children who experience attention deficit disorder continue with the symptoms until adulthood.

Periodically I do experience inattentive type symptoms which have affected my life on how I socialize and carry out daily duties. Despite of the excellent medication which I got from a team of TMI specialist most of the symptoms do re-occur though not severe but my memory is the one which was adversely affected and I have to rely on PDA to help me remember different task which I have scheduled for the day such as meetings.

The effects of attention deficit disorder would be severe with devastating effects if its causes are not treated in time. It would lead to the person to forget things, be distracted hence be switching frequently from one activity to another without necessarily finishing what they were working on. This is mainly because the victim experience difficulties in focusing on things (Lavin, Et al. 2006). They also have difficulties in learning new ideas which in most cases makes it difficult to cope in a working environment which is competitive and mostly if the employer does not understand.

While children’s experience difficulties in completing their assignments and in most cases keeps on losing their items such as toys and pens because they are forgetful once they keep it some where. Due to lack of attention they do not listen when being spoken to and one would think they are ignoring instructions (Gentile, Et al. 2009). They day dream and look as if they are confused and they portray signs of difficulties in processing information accurately and quickly like their age mates.
