Essay

Introduction

When it comes to determining what asserts reality among individuals with disability, the need to see through the situation in a more general or widely-defined patter is a determinable path of development. It could be understood that it is only through this that a person would be fully understood in relation to defining his strengths, his weaknesses and the possible adjustments he would need to make in order to survive life in a more normal pattern amidst all the imbalances that he might be undergoing in relation to self-development. In this course of determining the work of natural science, social science and humanities in defining a person’s capacity to improve [amidst disabilities], it has been well noted that a well-grounded understanding leads to a more established form of response to the needs of individuals experiencing particular abnormalities among themselves.

Learning Points: Seeing life and disability through

Natural Sciences

The natural sciences define the person to be connected with the environment he exists in. It could be realized through this activity that when it comes to determining factors of natural science, a person is expected to respond to his surroundings [both the animate and inanimate matters that exist in his environment For instance, the connection he has with others is shown through the attachment he has with them [regardless of who they are]. As concluded in the formerly completed paper on a Natural Science Research Presentation, the quoted data notes that:

Autistically affected individuals have demonstrated challenges with regards to the recognition of facial component expression.  Studies have shown that the challenge in the recognition of the expression of the facial component is attributed to a decreased stimulation of the fusiform gyrus.  (Conclusion)

True, through the research, it is sensed that every single element has an effect on how a person develops towards maturity. When experiencing a particular sense of disability, a person could be assisted to cope through adjusting the environment he thrives in. It has been pointed out through the readings and movie analysis undergone during this activity that when it comes to dealing with those individuals experiencing particular points of disabilities, their capacity to follow through the flow of life is quite tainted; hence, it is their environment that must be adjusted to make sure they would not feel as much pressured especially that they are already experiencing particular difficulties in themselves.

Social Sciences

The field of social sciences treats human individuals as basic units established as members of a bigger community. Being so, a person is expected to function with others. Such role of personal function and personal value has been seen to determine the worth of each well-defined concept of social relations [even among children]through the movie Radio. The analysis of the movie notes the following claim:

The film highlights how autistic children face stigma within the education system. It also depicts how autistic children are largely segregated and never get the opportunity to participate in activities and living a full life. It shows the sources of these stigma and the forces that are constantly working to oppress and suppress children with mental illnesses.

It could be realized that through time, a disabled individual may not be able to completely handle such role as someone who as ASD may not fully recognize the role that he or she shares with others. With such idea in mind, the society is now being made knowledgeable about the situation, allowing everyone else to see through the situation and become more effective in dealing with individuals who have such point of abnormality.

The social function of a person depends on how much he can contribute to others in support of their dreams and goals. For someone who is disabled or experiencing mental incapacities, it is safe to say that the responsibility to get them involved in the situation depends on the capacity of the surrounding individuals to become more concerned and considerate about their situation. Their function would only be fully realized with the availability of assistance coming from others.

Humanities

Separating an individual as a unique person who has his own capacities and weaknesses is a rightful concept of understanding that keeps experts focused on a disabled individual as a unique person who has remarkably unique needs. Noticeably, it could be realized that individuals resembling particular imbalances ought to be seen separately with their own weaknesses and strengths. This is the primary aim of educational inclusion. As the literature review paper completion could be quoted saying:

Setting up a positive environment for children with ASD is an essential first step to establishing a system in which everyone can “flourish,” as “Understanding and getting it right for children with ASD can be a way of getting it right for everyone” (Techniques Section)

Yes, with the use of strategies in education such as inclusion, continuously highlighting their strengths and improving the way they function as individuals give people with ASD a better sense of purpose in their lives; which allows them to realize the meaning of life more fully apart from the supposed lack of control they may have on some matters surrounding them.

Conclusion

Through the readings, analysis and reviews completed for this activity, it has been learned that persons with disabilities do need specific attention and assistance from people surrounding them. What makes this point of learning important is that it opens my mind towards the more important aspects of seeing what an abnormality in a person is and how it should be treated accordingly. I have personally seen how the fields of natural sciences, social sciences and humanities collaboratively exist to make a definite sense of what abnormalities are about and how they should be understood fully, thus allowing individuals experiencing them gain a better sense of what life is about. Providing assistance to those needing it would actually give me and those I am giving attention to a sense of control on how matters develop; especially in the hope of embracing better conditions of personal progress that disabled individuals ought to follow through. With the assumption of elements used to define what disabilities are and how they should be treated, it could be understood that the capacity of each person to become more involved in the process of giving the needed assistance is a constant call. With the studies examined and references given attention to, it could be realized that the relative form of response to such matters could redefine a more distinct aspect of development especially on the part of the experts involved in the process of aiding these people with the needed attention and care they require.
