Available Workplace Programs for Female Employees, Essay Example

Essay

A fairly extensive review of the applicable literature does not say precisely why women do not take advantage of programs to help them successfully climb the corporate ladder while also being a wife and mother. However, an indepth look at the article “Female CEOs Who Climbed the Corporate Ladder,” which looks at 10 business women and how they made it to the top of the corporate ladder basically says that women should accept increasing responsibility on their long hard-working path to the top to show that they are willing and able. Family life is not mentioned, but male dominance is. Consequently, wives and mothers may not try to take advantage of certain availabilities.

Given the difficulties that being a wife and mother impose on all-out effort to climb to the top of the corporate ladder and vice versa, this student would be content to have a happy home and a mid-level executive career, which usually is more accommodating to familial responsibilities.

This student would like to have a successful mid-level corporate career and a family as well. The family would, however, always come first. If my husband, children and/or parents needed me, they would have my time and full attention, which is not the desired attitude of a woman climbing the corporate ladder rungs to the top. Once a woman climbing the ladder was advised, “Be sure you do not pay too much”: I will not.
