Award of Bronze Star Medal, Essay Example

It is through exemplary accomplishments and courageous moves that platoon members are honored for their achievements. Some are awarded honorary medals and certificates, some are commended for their superior work but some are recommended for higher levels of achievement such as bronze, silver and gold star medals. It is with great pleasure that I bring to you today a platoon commander and his crew before you that has exemplified such courageous efforts to warrant such an award. Though their efforts in Iraq Freedom is what won this nominee for them. I highly recommend they receive the award with great honors.

I extend my highest recommendation to Staff Sergeant John Doe for the award of Bronze Star Service Medal for his exceptional and meritorious service as a convoy commander and squad leader in the xyz company while serving in support of operation Iraqi Freedom from June 2008-July 2009. Staff Sergeant John Doe was responsible for the guidance, care, direction, leadership and morale of the company while serving in support of the operation Iraqi Freedom and his 16 soldiers and crew which he executed over 18 north missions and 12 local missions driving over 10,000 miles. He and his crew hauled over 30,000 tons of equipment through notoriously dangerous areas in Iraq whilst in charge of the overall protection and welfare of all to include the third world country nationals for their dedication and hard work. He and his crew were awarded the units streamer for convoy logistics patrol excellence and should be awarded the bronze star medal for commendable work as well.
