There are many positive reasons to become a professional educator.  Being able to communicate knowledge and information to eager young minds is fulfilling on a personal level.  Children are the future and it is important to make sure that they are able to carry on knowledge, develop skills to acquire new information, and think for themselves.  Even though there are many challenges to being a professional educator, the joy of helping children makes those tasks easier to overcome.

Surrounding oneself with children is a great way to remain young in spirit.  Children have a natural curiosity and when their enthusiasm to learn is sparked, their fervor is infectious.  To be a teacher, one must continuously educate themselves on the latest information and always come up with creative ways to communicate this information to children. It is important to always remember the happiness in working with children, because being a professional educator is not without its challenges.

The field of education is competitive and it can be difficult to get a job.  With the recent success in online schools, more parents are electing to educate their children from the home. Funding is cut from schools, further limiting teachers’ income and learning resources available to students.  Add to the stress of dealing with overcrowded classrooms, angry parents, and administrative staff who can make unrealistic demands, it is no surprise why many teachers feel like giving up.  These challenges can be overcome with two qualities which make for a great teacher: creativity and flexibility.  Because parents are increasingly likely to enroll their children in online charter schools, it may be beneficial to offer private tutoring services so children could benefit from individual attention.  Teachers can override bureaucratic red tape and work with online schools and to make small groups where children can interact with their peers in an educational environment.  Teachers must change with the new age of education.  All the information in the world is useless if one is too inflexible to keep themselves open to new possibilities.  There is no point to acquiring information if a teacher cannot pass it to the children.
