Ben’s L, F and K, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

Ben’s L, F and K scale scores are all above 50 and less than 65. All the values are appropriate and valid according to the MMPI protocol. An L- scale T-score of 61 shows us that Ben probably has a tendency to be self-controlled and manifest little insight into what actually motivates them. This is evident from the fact that Ben barely communicated with family and friends when he was stressed, most probably because he believed that he could control the situation alone. In addition, an F-scale T-score of 64 implies that Ben answered several questions normally with few outliers present.

A K-scale score of 54 indicates that Ben is generally emotionally and psychologically stable, entrepreneurial, independent and self-reliant. This is valid, considering his academic and work history. However, the outlier in other clinical scales are the Depression (D)-scale score at 76 and Psychasthenia (Pt)-scale score of 66. Both scores aresignificant and support Ben’s assertion of exhibiting anxiety and depression. The D- scale T-score is greater than 65 and correlate with some of Ben’s current psychological traits. These include lack of self-confidence, withdrawal and lack of engaging close friends/family, reduced productivity due to depression and the difficulty of making the decision to move on after a relationship break-up.

Furthermore, the Psychasthenia (Pt)-scale T-score is also greater than 65 which indicate overall characteristics of Ben experiencing anxiety and being introspective. It is quite clear that Ben is probably aware of his anxiety disorder, which is why he resorts to taking drugs like marijuana and alcohol in order to temporarily boost his self-confidence in social situations with friends. Therefore, there is high chance that Ben’s diagnoses will be that of having an ‘anxietydisorder’.
