Essay

“Boys Don’t Cry” is an American film produced in 1999. It is romantic drama film, was directed by Peirce Kimberly and co-written by Bienen Andy. The film dramatized the real life story of Teena Brandon, who was a trans-man. Hilary Swank, who was raped, beaten and killed by his male acquaintances when they realized that he was atomically female, played the film. Teena Brandon was a young female to male non-operative transgender male. When the brother of his former girlfriend realized that he was atomically female, he remained the target of physical threats. After a short time, Brandon was evicted from his cousin’s trailer, and he moved to Falls City, Nebraska. In the city, Brandon developed friendship with Tom Nissen, John Lotter, Lana Tisdel, and Candace. Brandon was romantically involved with Lana. Lana did not realize his biological sex, and they moved to Memphis where Brandon managed Lana (Pudduck 2001, 101).

Brandon was charged due to his relocation and detained in women section in prison. Brandon cheated Lana that he was born hermaphrodite when she asked why he was in women prison. Lana decided to declare her love for Brandon irrespective of his situation. Tom and John were suspicious after reading a newspaper and forced him to reveal his genitals. Tom and John drove Brandon to an isolated location where they rape, beat, and took him to Nissen’s house. Brandon escaped through a bathroom window though he was injured. The assailants threatened him not to reveal anything, but Lana helped him to file a report. Tom and John were dunked and decided to kill Brandon, who was hiding in Candace’s house. Lana tried to stop them, but she was overwhelmed.

Sex Made Easy is the sex guidebook written by Debby Herbenick. Sex made easy is punch, no-nonsense, and direct guide, which confronts problems that are frequently arising. The problems are things that women fear or even embarrassed to talk about in public. Debby Herbenick is a scientist, a researcher, and sex expert. He wrote a book about Sex is Easy focusing on questions raised by women. Debby talked about everything including erections, vibrators, and orgasms. Debby provided frank and simple answers to the readers that they should satisfy their partners such that they can live a more fulfilling sex life. Debby offered skills, knowledge and confidence to the readers on how they can satisfy their partners such that they can avoid using other objects like vibrators to satisfy themselves.

The audiences to watch big boys do not cry are the entire citizens both adults and youths. It is because the film is about Brandon who was male to female transgender. The situation does not affect only teenagers or adults but both of them. A youth who is having a problem will grow and to be an adult and he/she should live comfortably with other people. If Tom and John, would understand that Brandon has a right to live like any other person, they would not have raped and even killed him. All citizens should watch the film such that they can understand the situations of people like Brandon the way Lana understood. Lana realized the situation of Brandon, and she declared his love for him. The audiences of the book Sex Made Easy are the adults who have reached the age that sex is allowed (Herbenick 2012, p. 107). It is not for the children who are under aged. It is because the book teaches people on how they can satisfy their partners when having sex. The book will help the partners to avoid using other objects to satisfy their feelings because their partners do not satisfy them.

The information used in the Big Boy Don’t Cry is credible. It is because the information is about personal stories that many people undergone in their lives. The information is reliable enough to deliver information to other people on what people like Brandon are undergoing in the society. Since is a touching story, many people will change their attitudes after watching the film and treat people like Brandon like any other person. What makes the media stronger is the conveyance of the problems that Brandon went through when he was charged, detained, raped, beaten and later killed. In the book Sex Made Easy, the information used is credible enough as it advises partners on how they can satisfy themselves when having sex. The information is reliable because when the partners are satisfied, they will not use other objects, which may injure their bodies or move outside marriage. The media are stronger and important because the partners by offering knowledge and skills on how they can satisfy their partners.

Many college students do not believe that people, as Brandon exists in the society. The media have helped them to understand that they exist, and they should be treated like any other person in the society (Branney & White 2008, 259). The media teach the students people with situations like that of Brandon should not be mistreated in the society because they have rights to life like any other citizen. The media through the book Sex Made Easy has answered many questions asked by college students who are not satisfied when having sex with their partners. The media have taught them how to get satisfied without seeking other objects like vibrators. The students will assist other people having the same problem in the society.

I learned many things from the media. In the film, I learned that people having the same problem like that of Brandon should not be isolated and mistreated the way Brandon was treated. People in that situation can marry or be married and lead a comfortable life. Lana accepted Brandon, and they stayed together as partners before he was raped and killed by Tom and John. From the nook Sex Made Easy, I learned that objects like vibrators are not options to seek when one is not satisfied by his/her partner. People can employ the skills and knowledge portrayed by the book to satisfy their partners.

All people in the society should watch the film because the situation that Brandon had do not affect people according to age. All people should learn to live with them in the society without mistreating them. I recommend adults to read the book Sex Made Easy because it advises people who are older enough to have sex on how they can satisfy their partners (Herbenick 2012, p. 85). After satisfaction, the partners will not seek objects to satisfy their feelings. What I liked about media is that it teaches people about their real life without hiding anything. If the media did not the skills and knowledge on how partners can satisfy themselves, they would end up injuring their bodies or breaking their marriages. In the film, if the media would hide what Brandon went through, other people in the same situation would continue suffering since they would not realize their rights in the society.
