Biogenesis, the concept signifying the emergence of living cells from the preexisting cells, is a mutually dependent factor, which offers explanation for the phenomenon of disease transmission, prediction of observable events and development of treatment strategies (Gillen, 2008). Study by Marshall, indicated the biogenetic concepts of Germ Theory of Disease to be as one amongst the false foundations of Modern Medicine. According to Marshall, the biogenesis and its descriptive components cannot be considered as a true basis for disease estimation and prevention (Gillen, 2008). However, a much needed explanation backed with strong evidence is needed to agree and accept the findings of Marshall. In contrast to Marshall Findings, the study by Gillen indicated the concept of biogenesis, as a key foundation in exploring asepsis and disease treatment or prevention strategies. As validity, reliability and precision seem to be compromised in Gillen study owing to limited sample size, thorough examination is needed in future (Gillen, 2008).
Aseptic techniques and their developments possessed a dramatic impact on the disease recognition of living individuals. Asepsis or Antisepsis, signifying the topical destruction of bacteria, was developed as an offshoot by French Bacteriologist, Louis Pasteur’s Germ Theory. This technique, meaning the complete absence of harmful micro-organisms, plays an important role in minimizing the infection rates. By increasing the survivability from trauma or disease, antisepsis or asepsis immensely influenced the industry and accompanied cultural changes. Although the study by Collins (2008) ascertained the importance of Asepsis in preventing health care associated infections and maintenance of morbidity and mortality rates, evidence for the availability of prevention strategies seem to be completely meager. The importance and implications of Aseptic Techniques at the time of regional anesthesia, was notified through the research study carried out by Hebl in 2006. Owing to the presence of greater discrepancies in sample size and selection procedures, the study appears to be quite ineffective, imprecise and non-generalizable (Hebl, 2006).
Increased use of aseptic transfer techniques enabled in minimization of risk of post-procedure bacterial infections. By involving the practices performed before, during and after the invasive procedures, these techniques assist in decreasing the exposure of health care providers to potentially complex micro-organisms. Poor adherence to different aseptic techniques causes considerable morbidity and mortality (Ziady and Small, 2005). Numerous hospital acquired infections (HAI) together with bacterial and viral diseases are as a reason of poor aseptic transfer. Contamination of cultures through poor transfer may eventually cause mutations and thus a careful regulation of transfer techniques is needed, whilst handling the organisms. Medical and Science Communities, by educating and training the relevant staff, developing treatment strategies and interventions should play a crucial role in promotion of individual well-being and quality of life (Ratten and Kassem, 2006).
