Biological Anthropology, Essay Example

Introduction

This is another sub-division of anthropology that is also called physical anthropology. It is an interesting interaction of both biological studies and social studies that has several other areas, which make it even more fascinating. The two main concept fields, which  tend to hold biological anthropology as one are the human biosocial variation and human evolution. In addition, there are other varied topics, which can be studied in these two related concepts.

Discussion

Biological anthropology help to in understanding how humans evolved right from earlier life forms thus help in looking at closest relatives or descendants of human beings. This forms the evolutionary stages and the primates that include  the apes, the Homo sapiens, monkeys, and prosimians, like the lemur (Miller, Rowlands, and Tilley 140).

The field of biological anthropology thus forms the basis for understanding the development of humankind. It includes different evolutionary and transformational stages from the early man to the present day civilized man (Aldenderfer and Maschner 72). In this sector of anthropology, it is possible to learn about the behavior of primates by studying this species in the wild like several studies conducted on the chimpanzees in Africa.

It can also be done by the studying them together  in some small forms of captive colonies where they live. The archaeological studies by primatologists are relatively instrumental in the contemporary generation because most of the primates are endangered species. It s seen as our knowledge on the behavior  of primates and environment would  help them and human kind to survive in the future (Miller, Rowlands and Tilley 147).

Conclusion

In this field, the techniques of archaeology can be applied in order to find out  the skeletal remnants of human ancestors from the past times. The exciting discoveries and findings on human paleontology, which studies human fossils, have helped in pushing back human ancestry. It was used as a tool for using human generations that walked on two hind limbs in several million years in the past.
