Pages: 2

Words: 550

Essay

Description of the Code

Boeing’s code helps them to provide favorable working conditions in order to make Boeing a good place to work. Boeing’s main concern is maintaining a healthy environment. Consequently, they are dedicated to the most fuel efficient plans. In order to commit to this, Boeing operations are in compliance with all environmental laws and regulation. They prevent pollution by conserving energy and resources, recycling, and reducing waste. They also continually research new and innovative ways to improve the company’s tactics and performance. Next, Boeing does incorporate their clean air policy into their code, but they also have a separate environmental policy. In their environmental policy they commit to improving operational efficiency by producing lightweight materials and commercializing new fuel sources. Under their code of ethics, they commit to protecting human rights worldwide. They believe that their code of ethics should govern all aspects of the performance of the company. With this code of ethics they want to ensure that each of their employees is protected and working in a safe environment. Also, they want to ensure that they retain the most highly qualified people for the job regardless to religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical, or mental disabilities. They clearly outline that discrimination is prohibited. Employees of Boeing respect the rights of their employees to join any lawful organization. Boeing wants all of its employees to work together cooperatively. As a result, they foster communication through employee engagement

Analysis

I believe the company reflects the code of ethics it vows to. First, it says that everyone is a leader, which means that every person has the opportunity for advancement. This is a great tactic because each person that comes to work for Boeing has the opportunity to advance in the company and in pay rate.  Next, Boeing says it values diversity at the highest level.  They believe that have a diversified work force makes it easier to reach diverse customers around the world.  Finally, Boeing has had many of its employees honored for outstanding work. For example, they received the workplace equality award in 2009 for diversity. Only two companies have won this award-Boeing being one. The code is adequately serving the purpose that they want it to. They state their main objective is protecting the environment. By following these codes, they ensure that the environment does not suffer from anything they have caused. This code ensures employees that they will be treated fairly and is a part of a company that is genuinely concerned about its workers and the end product they produce. This has a great impact on the image of the company. Because they have such high standards, people respect the name Boeing. However, along with that respect comes high expectations. Finally, Boeing’s vision and values directly coincide with its ethics codes. At the top of their list of values is integrity. Under this value the company is vowing to practice high ethical standards. Next, they discuss quality-they strive for first time quality, meaning that they try their best to accomplish great quality the first time. They also discuss trust and respect. In order to maintain trust and respect from their employees and stakeholders, Boeing strives to act with consistency and integrity. Building trust and maintaining trust is very important to the company.
