Brand Conservatives, Essay Example

Words: 575

Essay

Those who are supporting conservatives, expect them to accept and uphold the system, which has been camouflaged, by loose term American way of life.  Moral treason of the conservative leaders lies in that they hide behind the camouflage of the American way of life. They do not have courage to admit that the American way of life was capitalism. This was politico-economic system, which was initiated and established in United States. After it was started, it achieved a level of human happiness, prosperity, freedom, and unmatched other centuries and systems combined. The conservatives do not support capitalism; they stand for nothing, as they do not have direction, goal, social ideas, political principles, and leadership to offer any individual.

When the communists were claiming that they are representatives of science and reason, the conservatives are retreating and conceding it into the realm of faith, mysticism, and supernatural into another world. As a result, they surrendered this world to communism. It is a victory in which communists irrational ideology could not have won in its merits. In another view, they tried to justify capitalism on the ground of tradition. Some groups were trying to switch conservative to opposite of its current American usage. They were trying to switch back to its meaning of the nineteenth century and then release it to the public. The move was regardless of whether it is good or bad, defensive or indefensible, right or wrong, and what it might be. They declared that they wanted to defend American political system not because it is right but because their ancestors selected it, not it is good but because it is old. In addition, the conservatives defended capitalism on the ground of a man’s depravity. It is because men are weak, innately depraved, non-omniscient, and fallible. No one is entrusted with the responsibility of being a ruler and dictator of everybody else.

The republicans are supporting more government while the conservatives are supporting less government. The republicans do not mean that increasing government will end itself, but they are supporting any increase leading to material improvement of the lives of people. Conservatives are working for the same goal of improving people’s lives. Republican has been seen as fighting to prove that its policies can work better than those of conservatives. The republicans can correct this, by working towards the improvements of people lives without showing superiority.

Democrats learned from what the republicans did. It is because the republicans were fighting with the conservatives with the aim of showing its superiority. It proved that they were not working with the objective of improving people lives to show they are superior. Democrats used this negative attitude and goal developed by republicans to correct the way it presented its objectives in a neutral manner. All the three parties; conservatives, republicans, and democrats were realigned. After the realignment, the conservatives supported Republican Party though it was not a mainstay. After nomination of Ronald Reagan, Republican Party became the right-wing party while the democrats kept their left wing strong and intact. Democratic party grew to be the moderate wing in 1990s.

The democrats learned from the fall of republicans due to frequent changes and alignments and it remained intact. In 2008, democrats nominated Obama for President. He was the first nominee since 1988 as he was not a member in moderate democratic leadership council. Moderate and conservative democrats have remained organized in blue dog democrats, House of Representatives, and new democrats since 1994.
