Budgeting to Fight Crime, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 304

Essay

The first form of the budget is the line form of budget. Here, financial items make their way to be grouped at the group centers, as well as, the departments. This is recommended for people in unconventional employment. This way one can compare financial activity in the past with estimates for the future. On the other hand, zero budgeting. If one was on a consistent income and wanted to track their expenses in a consistent manner, this would be the appropriate venue. Thus, zero budgeting is for planning exclusively.

The other budget type is program format budget system. This form of budgeting is where the programs and events for the fiscal year are tabled. The importance is to ascertain their expense and estimate for revenue generation if they are business oriented. The last two are performance budgeting and hybrid budgeting. Hybrid budgeting is what most companies use to survive in the present. This is use of past information to help come up with the projections for the future.  Performance budgeting, on the other hand, relies on the use of goals or missions to justify the spending and allocation of finances. Of the five, it seems that zero budgeting is the most common in law enforcement. This is because the nature of law enforcement dictates that funds be traced in an exact manner.

This way, embezzlement of money can be quickly avoided, and projects can proceed with transparency and openness. There are other methods funds can be processed, and these include donors and foreign investors. The trouble with these methods is that they are not always reliable. They fluctuate in value and the system may need a multitude of requirements and issues to attend. At the same time, some of these funds come with conditions that the beneficiaries must follow in the interest of the investing party.
