In his mind, it is essential to establish a sustainable community as small communities that could sustain themselves are likely to be able to sustain the nation’s need for developmental groundwork. The organization and its cause for existence affects the lives of those who may have long been considered by the government as ‘out of the economic cycle’. Through the empowerment that the Barefoot College gives, the people gain competence and confidence again, equipping them with the knowledge and skills that are strongly necessary for survival.
