  1. Culture is a set of values or beliefs and it is learned through a shared environment. It is constructed by one’s social environment and can be passed on through interactions. Culture is influenced by people’s behaviors, perception and preferences. An example of a certain culture is standards of beauty – this is different depending on the geographic location you want to examine.
  2. The high and low contexts of culture are the cultural differences between societies and are used to describe gaps in groups. High context are those societies or groups of people who have close connections which have been going on for a long period of time. These members express the same cultural behaviors, however not explicitly, because they have learned from their many years of interaction; one’s family is an example of this. The other context, Low context of culture refers to those connections in society which are diverse and multiple. These connections are made shorter and are not as deep.
  3. A stereotype is something which is typical in identity and can be classified into a category or a group. A prototype is a model which is created as a pre-release; an example of a final product which can be viewed before consumers can purchase the final product.
  4. Non-verbal communication is more difficult to study because it consists of many interpretations whilst verbal communication is straighter forward. An example of non-verbal communication is body language; this consists of body posture and gestures. Many people get the wrong idea when they try to interpret these things because different cultures express themselves differently through body language. It is more difficult to study this type of communication because it consists of many different layers which need to be interpreted.
  5. Giving business gifts is difficult because the gift is not personal. The person giving the gift does not personally know the receiver, therefore choosing the gift to give would be a difficult process.
