Business communication play very important role in our day to day life. Over the past century communication transformed vastly, however nowhere more than in the field of business. Communication is the main integrating ingredient of business. “No business can grow and expand without felicitously appropriate communication channels. The day to day operations of a business depend on the exchange of information among its employees” (Locker, et al., 2008). Long range orchestrating and decision making are predicated on research, reports, proposals, conferences, and meetings.
The technique business communication is performed in the workplace experiences ordinary modifications with the amelioration in technology that creates communication sooner and simpler. The advancements in technology also permit companies to decrement cost. The ever-ameliorating technology and approach to it has made worldwide communication better. The accessible software in the market like Microsoft Office has assisted companies indite their documents, create good presentations, updates their technology, build their own databases, and other much desirable tasks for the company.
In day to day activities such as texting, twittering, email and teleconferencing, the main reason behind them is to send the message out to several people or to as many people as compulsory within no time. On the other hand, in the early days when we compare the scheduling process, where boss was required to call a secretary, give dictation for memo and which would have been indicted manually by typewriter and mailed the messages to people. Now because of new technology like texting, twitter business communication has successfully reduced the time in which communication takes place.
In my current workplace the trends that have been used mostly are emails, text messaging and podcasts. The reality is that, in the workplace one can sit down and work throughout a list of emails, take care of professional business diffuse with personal, that lead to good integrating of work and home life. Texting has become very prevalent and employers utilizing that pattern in communication. Sending concise messages from the cell phone is available on most digital mobile phones.
“Businesses use short text messaging for person to person inquiries and replications that keep them in touch while away from the office. A podcast is a digital media file that is distributed over the cyber world and downloaded on portable media players and personal computers” (Bullard, 1997). In business, podcasts are utilizable for ameliorating customer relations, marketing, training, product launches, and “viral” marketing.
“Sending more messages to more people is at the core of why language rules and conventions go by the wayside in the quest for higher information sharing rates” (Guffey, 2004). Trends in communication will perpetuate to thrive and be tested in the world of business, where the newest, fastest, less expensive, more comprehensive communication solutions are always embraced.
