Business Ethics: Waste Management, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 257

Essay

In response to your request about what our company should consider in terms of addressing any environmental issues about waste management, please note the following as major concerns. According to the The World Bank (2011), environmental waste management issues related to public health concerns include the health and environmental impacts of uncollected waste, the condition of waste and landfill facilities, unclean air emissions from waste transfer vehicles and handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials. Based on these issues it is imperative that our company adopt a green initiatives program to address concerns associated with better handling the problems and issues of the public, and to contribute to the green movement of preserving the earth’s environment. Mathur & Mathur (2000) refer to a global green movement that environmentally-conscious businesses are embracing. It is also a strategic move on our part because many consumers make buying decisions based on patronizing environmentally-conscious businesses. Our clients are aware of this and want to cater to the buying behavior patterns of their customers by adopting green initiatives, and will be motivated to deal with companies that are going green as well.

My suggestion is that we meet to brainstorm on ideas to develop and implement a strategic environmental plan and incorporate it into our over planning initiatives. It is both good for business and the environment.
