Who

Moonlight Distributors a 10-year-old transportation company.  The firm specialises in pick-ups and deliveries to a wide range of businesses.  They are headquartered in Chicago IL and have three regional offices across the United States.

What

The firm requires a computer system that will work on a distributed basis to lick up the HQ with its regional offices.  The system should be an online system reducing the overhead at the regional offices. A conceptual design has been created that will eventually create an integrated system that includes finance,  billing and marketing systems (Goldsmith, R.F.2004)

Where

The system will be a distributed network system that has the central computer located in the Chicago HQ.  It will then be networked to each of the regional offices where the system can be accessed by computer terminals. (Kurose, J.F. 2010)

When

It is estimated that the system will take two months in order to design, develop and place the integrated computer systems solution.  This will resolve the delay factor in getting accurate and timely information from the head office.

How

Fig 1 provides a diagrammatic representation of how this will be achieved.  The key features are as follows:(Attiya, H. 2004)

• A Central Computer Server located at the Head Office
• Distributed remote terminals at each region via a remote network
• Distributed communications and print capability.
