Callie the Talking Cat, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 575

Essay

Adopting Callie, the talking cat, was the best thing I ever did. That happened a year ago. I recall the day she peeped through my window. She was a skinny kitten, definitely a stray. Usually, I would run off a cat that goes meowing near my door or window, but this one seemed to have something unique. I left the door agape, and she majestically walked in as though she owned the house.

Once she was in, she jumped up and sat on my kitchen table. Throughout the previous evening, some allies and I were playing Scrabble, which was our usual activity for Saturday evening/night. The game was our special way of enjoying leisure as we chatted. For me, playing the game was like killing two birds with one stone: it kept me occupied since I never had much money to go to hang out and allowed me to refresh and interact with friends.

I had forgotten to take the Scrabble board off the table, unlike in the previous Saturdays, mainly because I was too sleepy by the time we finished playing. Callie had her own way of fitting in. She kitten started pushing the tiles, so at first, I thought she was merely playing. To my surprise, by the time Callie was finished, the tiles were already in two rows: Linguine and Patriotsbyj.

It was beyond my belief how a cat could succeed in arranging a letter in patterns that came out as words. I found Callie unique, something that rekindled my interest in her. I gazed at her and asked,” What is the meaning of ‘Patriots by?'” With a single claw, the kitten reached and attempted to tap on the lower right vertex of the letter J. in every tile; there were the total points that each letter was worth. Callie appeared to be telling me Patriots by eight.

Beginning to build a friendship with my guest, I immediately took a remote, switched on the TV, and rushed to the guide. Surprisingly enough, in the earlier, the Patriots had played the jets. I felt, “Oh, wow, I have nothing better than this to do.” I decided to watch that game. No sooner had I sprawled on my coach than Callie curled up in my laps, and comfortably dozed off.

The last possession of the game came, with the favorites Patriots leading by one pointing and Jets driving. At this point, everything did not mean well for the kitten’s prediction. It was only four seconds to the end of the game, and it was time out by the Jets. The Jets had just entered the 5-yard line of their opponents, an easy field score near a victory with two points above Jets.

I did not believe what took place next. Joy came from nowhere and blocked Jets’ kick. As the ball bounced back, Charlie grasped it and charged down the field. No lineman from the Jet team was anywhere new catching this Patriot’s speedy cornerback. Immediately, after crossing the scoreline, the clock ticked.

The stadium was erupting with bedlam since a point from the extra time differentiated the winner from the loser. Beating the odds, Callie’s prediction came true: Patriot’s winning by 8 points. As I watched Charlie walk out the field, I screamed and started jumping. Callie went flying. I later noted that my pants had a wet spot, where Callie drooled while asleep. Since then, I have always considered Callie a pet to keep and fun to play with.
