Essay

Interpretation of the results

The job scan conducted on the candidate concluded two career choices as the best options, which include a career in Math-Science or an alternative career in management. The two choices are demanding, and the candidate is required to take a program with several subjects, which include science, math, management, and arts. Notably, the candidate fared well and was more inclined to the above-mentioned subjects as opposed to other subject such as geography and history among others. The school subjects were ranked in terms of his strengths, indicating that he had a deeper inclination towards science and mathematics subjects. This informs the first career choice for my candidate. The candidates main work values included a good salary, a challenging task to the mind, variety, and one that demands creativity.

These results based on the work values of the candidate indicates a commitment towards utilizing his knowledge at the workplace with his primary motivation being the salary paid by an organization. The candidate is not limited at his workplace and prefers a versatile organization offering him different challenges to utilize his creativity. The value of creativity is critical in many organizations and this will be used as strength in the job search process. His abilities are indicative of the various positions that he can hold and the input that a company will enjoy. His abilities include mathematical, scientific, leadership, and artistic prowess utilized as individual talents according to the work place. His mathematical and leadership skills are crucial for a managerial position within an organization. He can explore that avenue by ensuring that he steers an organization to a positive performance. Leadership skills are essential for any managerial work across all fields.

The candidate can fuse his leadership, mathematical, and scientific skills to pursue an option under math-science related job profiles. The plans of the candidate are geared towards the advancement of his education by completing a bachelor’s degree and obtaining a masters degree. These future aspirations in life and especially in furthering his educational life are necessary in the competitive job market where education serves as the baseline for employment decisions. The scores from his interest are impressive on the scientific and business front with a score of eleven and seven respectively. This indicates that the candidate is better suited to pursue the two options in his career choices. The candidate should explore the opportunities present in math-science, management, and technical fields.

Job scan and resume

Searching for a job can be a daunting task and it is crucial for an individual to attain the appropriate educational qualifications. The candidate should establish one college in Colorado that will present him with the best opportunity to advance his career based on the CDM. The candidate should search the Internet for colleges in Colorado that specialize in sciences and business courses. The search should not be limited to the University of Colorado, but should explore a variety of institutions. The search for work should be based on the following link: (http://www.onetonline.org/. This site provides the candidate with versatility in the search for a job by simply keying in the title of a job that fits the description of the course undertaken.

The resume for the candidate was impressive, but the aspect of his Grade Point Average (GPA) needs improvement since it was higher than 3.0 indicating the immense potential held by the candidate. The candidate is at a position of attaining the highest possible GPA from his education and this could serve as an advantage in his search for a job.

Reflection

The consultation experience was an important one for me as it served as a revelation on the requirements I need to meet to compete in the job market successfully. The process was exciting as the candidate was different from me in many aspects including his interests. The consultation expanded my knowledge and information regarding sciences and mathematics and their immense contribution towards pursuing different careers. An involving process exposed the need for guidance amongst high school students as they anchor their future lives through career choices. The questions that arose were mainly about the future employment opportunities and career advancement including the challenges of pursuing mathematics and science related courses. I think the client gained necessary information on his strengths and weaknesses and the need of striking a balance in his academics to suit his future career choices. The process of administering the CDM, interpreting and critique of the resume was enlightening with challenges of giving the proper reflection of the conducted tests.
