Caregiving – Necessity or Desire? Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 385

Essay

On an emotional level, as kids, we anticipate that our mother and father will always be there for us and care for us. Because of this, it simply is uneasy to imagine anybody else taking part in the descent in health and life of our own parents. Frequently we want to live trying to stay in denial instead of face the unavoidable reality that our mom and dad will some time or another pass on, basically leaving us by ourselves without guidance. Regardless of your age, the role of your parents remains constant and the child/parent element still subconsciously rules your reasoning. Thus, it is hard to accept when your parent’s health and wellbeing is deteriorating along with their ability to fulfill their role as guardian to you. As hard as it is for us to face, our maturing folks feel as much or more dejection and sorrow over their declining capacity to nurture themselves as we do. Eventually, they can feel totally helpless and vulnerable to anything.

Personally, I won’t permit myself to turn into a troublesome burden for my kids in the future. Ultimately, I am the one who will be giving them life for the purpose of living their life, not living vicariously through me. Despite the fact that it will still be a hardship for them in a mixture of ways due to the fact that their parent will be deteriorating, I will ensure I make the proper arrangements to deal with my own requirements and needs. In the end, America is not socialist and consequently we ought not be socially and lawfully committed to nurture and look after our own parents. However, this argument is two-toned and affects multiple generations. Despite the fact that I would not want my children caring for me as I age, I cannot imagine a circumstance in which I do not help my mother and father in their time of need. Perhaps we are more inclined to help if it is of our own affection and not obligation. This may correlate with the pride we have as human beings. We seek to help those in a vulnerable state, especially our parents whom we love the most. However, we seek not to be a burden to these very people when we find ourselves in the same state.
