Introduction

CaseMap® is a software application designed for the legal profession. The software is normally hosted on a Microsoft®  SQL server on a wide area network. It is essentially an organizer for legal casework files. It allows the assembly of large casework information files and the ease of navigation in search and interrogation of information.  The software has been fined tuned to operate on Microsoft’s ®Windows 7® operating system. (Lexis Nexis, 2011)

Benefits to the Legal Office

The software provides a holistic environment for the storage of all legal case information essentially providing a repository of information.  You essentially can perform all tasks without having to leave the casework environment “research organizations, experts, attorneys, judges, arbitrators, mediators and authorities without ever having to leave CaseMap to do so.” (Lexis Nexis, 2011).  This saves a considerable amount of time and effort from historic manual procedures. Further, subject to data integrity, it reduces the risk of error and provides more accurate data.

Is the Program Available for All Legal Offices?

The software has been designed to operate in a Microsoft Windows® environment and in particular Windows7®.  This imposes some degree of hardware/software limitation.   It is generally available for all types of legal offices but most suitable for the small-medium sized firm.  It is considered that the large law firms may benefit from more sophisticated applications in the market place.

The Main Benefit From CaseMap

The ability to manage all of the required information in a lawsuit within one software application. Facilitates ease of collaboration and the ability to perform case assessments in a rapid, reliable and expedient manner. (Lexis Nexis, 2011).

Pouring through extensive casework documentation is a time consuming and laborious process. The software makes the navigation of this easier saving valuable time.
