Causal Reasoning-Often, Essay Example

Essay

What to Eat

Causal Reasoning-Often when I am hungry, I avoid going to the supermarket because I will buy more than I need. So, yesterday I broke my own rule. I was starving when I went to the supermarket. I had over slept and missed breakfast. Being on a budget, I try to cook at home as much as possible. Nevertheless, I am overcome by the desire to have a McDonald’s burger every now and again. Anyway, I am very hungry at that moment and I have limited funds. Should I go grab a quick burger and feed my hunger immediately, or should I toughen it out and go to the supermarket. After counting the money I had left and considering how long that had to sustain me, I decided to go to the grocery store. What I bought will definitely last the week, whereas if I had purchased a burger it would only feed me for one meal.

Outing vs. Studying

Inductive reasoning-A couple of my friends were having a barbeque and friends hang-out day. I really wanted to go because one of my friends who had transferred to another school was in town and would be there. Yet, I had a great deal of work to complete for assignments that were due. My friend inquired if I would be there and I explained to her my dilemma. She quickly reminded me that I didn’t have to stay the entire time. She said she would be glad to just see me. So, I decided to go and visit with friends for a few hours and then come back and devote the rest of my evening to completing my assignments.

What to Wear

Causal reasoning-College students are often tired from late night studying or partying. As a result, many of them come to class looking like they barely were able to get out of bed. I have always felt that one’s appearance says a great deal about character. Consequently, I always make time to create an appealing appearance, even prior to my 8 o’clock classes. Nevertheless, I had been battling an acute sinus issues and barely got 2 hours of sleep. When my alarm went off, I cringed. I decided to go to class in sweats. That was the first time ever for me. However, with the very little energy I had, I thought it would be best used sitting in class getting some much needed notes to help me study for a test.

Breakfast

Deductive reasoning-Usually, I just grab a bowl of cereal for breakfast because I have an opportunity to come back home for lunch. This particular day, I had a meeting to go to that would run through my lunch break. I knew I should get up a little earlier and make a real breakfast this morning. Eating a real breakfast would eliminate that lunch hunger and allow me to make it through the day. I hated giving up my hour of morning sleep. I decided to make pancakes and bacon before going to bed and just microwave them in the morning. This would allow me the breakfast I needed, but not deprive me from my final hour of sleep.

Daily Exercise

Causal reasoning-Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to me. Part of that lifestyle is choosing to exercise daily. In order to make the decision daily, I have to pep talk myself. Sometimes I try to bargain with myself that if I just skip one day, I will do double the next day. That usually doesn’t work because I then end up skipping several days. So, each day I give myself the healthy heart and body talk in order to ensure that I exercise each day. I remind myself of what happens when I skip a day. This usually takes about 10 minutes, and then I jump up and do it.
