The government has played a major role in helping to assess the crime throughout the country. In areas where crime is more prevalent they have instituted more programs to help the local law enforcement agencies, as well as the citizens’ deal with criminal activity. The purpose of the creation of the Crimes Solution website is to help inform the public on various programs that are available to help policy makers and others for crime victim services, criminal justice, and juvenile justice services. The website is useful in providing the public with evidence-based practices and programs which enable policy makers and other users in utilizing the resources to help in areas that need it most. The purpose of this essay is to provide an overview of the Crime Solutions website, as well as, inform on the how this can be used in effectively decreasing the crime rate.

Crime Solutions website has over 307 evidence-based practices and programs that are created by US Department of Justice. In order to provide users with online resources in helping to contribute to the research studies based on social science evaluations, and analysis in providing practical information for practice, intervention, and other uses in general justice of the juvenile, victim, and criminal services. (Crime Solutions, 2014)The primary purpose of this website is to provide a central place where individuals can comprehend what works and what doesn’t injustice related practices and programs. This information would be used in assisting in policy making, and the implementation of programs to fight crime. Based on the information provided, the number of programs that were deemed as having no effect were, 14% were deemed as not effective, with 62% deemed promising, and 24% were not effective. (Crimes Solutions, 2014) While the majority of programs were deemed promising, there is still a rise in crime rates. This can be because there are underlying issues that lead to criminal activity. This includes a breakdown in schools and families, and the criminal justice system does not enact punishment to fit the crime, economic, and social issues, which have not been adequately dealt with. This creates problems in areas where member encourage criminal activity, and the lack of resources where opportunities are presented help individuals, and the overall community.

The Criminal Solutions website presents researched, and evidence-based programs that have evaluated on their effectiveness in order to help policy makers, social sciences, and other individuals in helping to implement practices and programs in their communities to deter crime. This information is based on funding and experts from the Department of Justice, in helping to decrease crime. While the majority are rated as promising and effective, there is a small percentage that is not. There are several reasons why this can correlate to high crime rates, as there is more research and programs that need to be conducted in order to help crime-riddled communities throughout the United States.
