Intel is the fifth on the list of CRO’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens (2013). The positioning of the list is based on performance, environmental issues, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, philanthropy, and financial ranking’s added scores. The below analysis will examine the ways the company communicates corporate social responsibility missions and visions.

Intel’s corporate social responsibility report (2012) determines some important aspects of the company’s vision about corporate citizenship and taking responsibility. The company has developed an integrated value approach to CSR: ethics and compliance are in the center of all initiatives developed by the company. The main visions detailed in the document are: ethical business approaches, caring for the planet, supply chain management to reduce environmental impact, respecting human rights, and enabling talent by inspiring the new generation.

A recent press release (Intel, 2013) features the latest CSR project of Intel; the support for the Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility. The press release features the company not only as a participant, but as a leader in the industry to develop plans that make people’s lives better. By renewing its support for the conference, the company also offered expertise and insight into projects and successful approaches towards CSR. Further, the article features Intel as a recognized brand for corporate social responsibility and citizenship.

Analyzing the recent CSR report of Intel, Cheeseman (2012) concludes that Intel is on target in reducing CO2 emissions, while it has not managed to reduce water consumption and energy consumption reducing targets. However, the integrity of the company is maintained by making its strategy, goals, visions, and missions public and setting a standard for the rest of the companies worldwide. The communication of these goals and visions has also been found successful, and the company’s Facebook page is effectively communicating CSR messages alongside with regular press releases.
