Words: 247

Essay

A Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) also referred to as a Treasury Analyst has an educational requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other closely related field.  Knowledge of common business practices and software are also required.  Most schools of higher education offer finance or business degree programs at this degree level (How to Become 1).

The Association of Financial Professionals (AFP) is the administrator for the CTP exam.  Though a certification is not required to pursue a career as a treasury analyst, however a minimum of two years job related experience is required to take the CTP exam.  Professionals who obtain the certification have a higher salaries and an increased skill set than those who do not (How to Become 1).

In addition to work experience and educational requirements, individuals pursuing the CTP certification are required to adhere to strict ethical guidelines and maintain financial transparency in their record keeping. Corporations and hiring agencies rely on the CTP to insure that they are in compliance with financial regulations.

In 2012 the median pay for a financial analyst was around $76,950.00 annually.  The future job outlook for 2012-2022 is expected to increase by 16% faster than the national average of other career fields (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1).
