Change Leadership Mini-Action Plan, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 217

Essay

There are numerous concepts embodied in both articles that can be effective in executing feasible and successful leadership within educational institutions. One of the most important ones is the development or the definition of the organizational culture (Fullan & Boyle, 2010). Organizational culture defines the manner in which educators will execute given strategies as embodied in the organization’s mission and vision. Cultures which are embedded in an organization determine how the functional parts of the organization operate and relate to each other This determines the general attitudes, ideologies and concepts about the organization that its employees hold.

A non-punitive approach to accountability is particularly useful in fostering an environment of trust and openness (Area Educational Change Special Interest Group, 2012). Such an environment is most effective in implementing change. This is particularly useful after directing relentless focused leadership on a small number of ambitious goals.

In conclusion, policy transformations can bring about change within an educational institution. However, in order to effectively foster change, there is need to get such policy reforms accepted by the majority. Indifference to change that is expressed by mere cooperation to the change initiative with little to no input from the employee(s).
