Essay

Usually employed by famous restaurants, chefs control the process of delicious meals preparation, propose new receipts, and define the trend line of some particular cafés. These people are considered to have special abilities or “the sixth sense” that help them taste food unlike all other people do. They define which meal is delicious and which is absolutely disgusting. Who are these people? Why do others consider them experts in the field of culinary? To become a chef today one needs to get certain culinary degree, finish several culinary courses, and simply be talented person.

Tyler Florence is a well-known chief for his Culinary TV shows. He has created original point of view on how ordinary American people like both eating meals and cooking them. In 1991 Tyler graduated College of Culinary Arts (Charleston, SC). While learning, he collected food receipts, changed them, and tried to make something new from old meals. Professors liked this person for his incredible talent and own way of looking on the cooking process. Tyler Florence was given PhD degree for his success in the field of culinary by the university he graduated from.

His television career began only several years ago. For rather little period of time (2007-2009) Tyler Florence gained the great audience from ordinary people willing to prepare healthy food at home. He was invited to lead “Food 911”, “How to boil water”, and “Tyler’s Ultimate” TV shows. His career success was explained by getting interest of not only of professional chefs, but also businessmen, teachers, mechanics, and other people who lack time to create something new from the old receipts they know. At the beginning of almost every TV show he says about food he cooks: “You know it, you love it, you want it … right now” (Food 911).

In his TV programs Tyler Florence tried to make his receipts as easy as possible. According to him, there is no need to spend hundreds dollars for expensive ingredients. If properly used, even those products of every day life, such as eggs, milk, cheese, bread, and many others can be used to create really delicious and unique meal. For his talent he was invited to several leading TV shows, such as “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, “The View”, “Christine Cushing Live”. Writing several successful books “Dinner at My Place” and “Stripping the Pot” absolutely changed Florence’s life. “He has been tapped as the dean of culinary education at Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts in Napa” (Le 2008).

From the very beginning of his culinary career Tyler Florence was striving for bringing values of healthy meals to masses. His idea of cooking meals at home rather than just simply going to McDonalds or Burger King is amazing. After looking his TV shows or reading his culinary books even the most untalented or busiest person can find some time and desire to cook something personally.
