Proposed Construction of the Golden Age Hospital

This is an executive summary for the proposed construction of the Golden Age Hospital (GAH), a facility to cater to the needs to the geriatric population centered in Mission Viejo. This hospital will be affiliated with and adjacent to the Mission Hospital. We believe that the hospital will take approximately 7 years to break even with its profits and we expect it to be financially successful for the following reasons:

• In the immediate area (within a 10 mile radius) there are two retirement communities. The Leisure World Community in Laguna Woods with approximately 23,000 residents in the 55+ age cohort and Costa del Sol in Mission Viejo, which boasts around 3,000 residents in the same cohort (City of Laguna Woods Official Website, 2014, p. 1)
• The Children’s Hospital, which also joined forces with the Mission Hospital in 1993 and according to their annual report, had, in the last two consecutive years, gross profits of 22.9 and 49.4 million respectively, with a strong base of financial support from the community (Children’s Hospital at Mission Website, 2014, p. 12).

We believe that the Golden Age Hospital can be both profitable as well as an important resource for the special needs of seniors in our community. The following report will analyze in detail the proposal for the GAH.
