Information technology has increased the capacity of business organizations to function fully for their target consumers. Ever since the entrance of the 21st century, boosting the functions of IT for business-related operations became a source of organization confidence. Nevertheless, it is a known fact that utilizing IT as a tool for better business operation has its own advantages and disadvantages. Considering the issues of modern business connections, the world of internet-based entities or mostly known as e-commerce has opened wide doors to opportunities of handling business online. Most likely, the most common form of business operation handled through this medium is marketing. Today, businesses have embraced the fact that operating marketing options online do not only give them a better sense of reaching towards their target market, but it also creates a form of cost-effective resource that makes it easier for them to save more and earn more for profit and capital assets. In the discussion that follows, the different aspects by which IT improves business operations worldwide shall be presented in relation with the videos and readings that have been given attention to in class.

Information Technology and Business

According to the video of HBR on Creating a Customer-Centric Business, the increase of attention placed upon interned-based business operations has manifested a great impact on improving customer-centralized operations of major business entities around the world. In this video, it has been presented that the internet and the different tools of communication used through the aid of the said media helps a lot in establishing a more clarified form of market for business organizations today. Chatting, emailing and even video conferencing as hosted through company websites tend to develop customer competence and loyalty based on the communication that they were able to establish with their prospective clients. The world of business has completely changed in line with the insertion of IT operations in consideration with the overall operations of profit-earning entities.

Centralized to the demands and expectations of the clients, the IT operations have been reported to increase B2C relations or Business to Client connections that serve as a strong foundation of trust between the two parties involved. This then creates a good reputation for the organization as it enters a worldwide array of possible clients as it markets through the internet. Another aspect of marketing that has captured the attention of most clients at present involves that of the utilization of social networking  as part of the system. According to Nikos Drakos’ video on Rethink Communication and Collaboration in the Social Network Age , a modern aspect of marketing has been born. Getting personal and directly connected with the target clients has become a culture that businesses embrace today. Facebook, multiply and other online programs that create possibilities for individuals to communication, speak their mind and share their ideas increase the capacity of business organizations to reach out to the market and further create an instantiating impact on how the people think and decide on whether or not to accept the products and/or services that they offer. This approach is considered to be more direct and personal which appeals to the people in relation to the psychology of attraction between reputable entities and the society they hope to serve.

Marketing is already an old-time approach that businesses use to reach out to the market. Through the years, several options of reaching out to the target buyers have been formulated. The psychology of consumerism has been studied fully to contribute to the success of the said business campaigns. Nevertheless, as the IT-defined procedures enter the scene, the development of the system even created a great source of development that even improved the manner by which marketing gets the attention of the social public. IT made it possible for businesses to gain personal relationships with their clients and therefore establish a good rapport that would ensure them of long-time existence in the industry.

Conclusion

If there is one thing about the world that never changes is change itself. True, this line has been proven real every now and then in the field of business. The improvements that have been undertaken by the industry of commerce through the years prove that there will always be a room for growth. The computer or Information Technology to be exact has created different bridges of connection that made it possible for business to virtually and literally expand their operations worldwide. The effective and strategic way of utilizing the benefits that the modern IT operations offer the businesses with shall ensure the said organizations with relative success and developmental  guideline that they can follow in consideration with their desire to develop and become more involved in the international system of trade and industries. Manifesting improvements allow the organizations to incur better sources of growth that would ensure them of higher profits and make a specific indication of their strength in the face of fierce competition in the market. Yes, IT could be used as an effective tool of improving operations as desired; this matter should then be given specific attention to by Chief Information Officers of organizations worldwide.
