Essay

Reflecting back what I studied and the experience I had, I must say I was amazed at the much I gained within a short period. Although I knew just a little about liberal art within my life time, this course introduced me to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). Also, it helped me gain an understanding needed information in order to be a successful student at Arizona State University. By learning, broad, liberal arts, I experienced the benefits of the art education such as having a contemplated and independent thought, which leads to exercising the brain. Also, the ability to understand the significance of worldly happenings in the world in the context of other related ideas hence the world becomes understandable. Also, by learning, of the strategies and tools, to maximize my academic success, I was equipped with skills. This included using critical thinking, planning for my work, having an organized work, asking for help where I cannot perform and utilizing available resources that i will take away and still use within my academic experience at ASU. Through the course, I also learnt the importance of academic integrity. It had five fundamental values which were:  honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility. These values would be applicable throughout my academic year and even after my studies. Also learning about ways, to enhance my personal development, which include time and financial management, goal setting and career planning. I was molded to be a successful person in life and society. The course also acted like an orientation in explaining more about resources available in the campus, events and ways of involving with ASU and CLAS occasions. This increased my familiarity with the university. Even though, the course has been a successful one, I think it can still be improved by the addition of subjects that would enable one know how to socialize with others at the university so as to have an enjoyable social life while studying.
