Co-Evolution of Man With Chimpanzee Has Influenced Our Ability to Become Anti-Social Specie, Essay Example

The fact that man in the evolution times co-evolved with wild chimpanzees has made man anti-social specie in more aspects than one. The chimpanzees lived in the wilderness and ate fruits. Man also lived in the wilderness and ate fruits before he decided to also eat meat (Wayne 5). The chimpanzees lived in a cluster of few family members especially the parents and the children. The other extended family members were not valued and a chimpanzee would fight with its own brother and even kill its own father when it came to crossing the habitat boundaries (Goodall 24). The chimpanzees only cared for their family members and not the other species or strangers in the forest. Man also cared for his own family that is why man built a house for his family to protect themselves against the wild animals. Man and chimpanzees lived in the same place and used the same resources to acquire food but the two species never did anything that would show they helped each other in making life better (Schleidt 4).

The difference between man and chimpanzees in terms of social life made man anti-social towards his own specie. Man has evolved to only care for the nuclear family. People today are very opportunistic in nature; a person would make a lot of money at the expense of poor people and still not feel guilty or remorseful. People in the society today only help their family members to have top positions in commercial centers or political positions. Man has also taken up the aspect from a chimpanzee to only socialize with people of the same class and not those from lower classes. Brothers in the same family fight and kill each other for family inheritance the same way the chimpanzees did and still do. Many people kill each other because they only put their needs first and those of other people last (Janis 27). Rich people do not socialize with the poor people because the poor people in the society are regarded as less important in the society and that they are not productive in nature.
