Equally important to the professional organization is the need for encouragement of discourse which is vital in propping up critical self reflection as well as evaluation in as far as the profession is concerned. In the nursing profession, an important consideration is the articulation of the nursing values while the profession integrity and practice are withheld with great esteem which is vital in shaping of the social policy. The accountability of the nursing profession to the society is also of great importance in the profession.

“Values and ethics influence the power structures of the association in guiding, correction and directing its activities.  Another important responsibility of a professional association is the expression of vital values together with the ethics that are associated with the profession. This goes hand in hand with engorgement of professional organization as well as its members to work in accord with the said values as well as ethics. Consequently, promotion of awareness coupled with adhering to the proposed code of ethics is one of the most important responsibilities bestowed upon the professional organization. Justifiable concerns allied to the self interests in the association together with the profession goes along with the dedication for achieving social goods that the association strives for. Fostering change in the association is important if the profession has to achieve the stated ideals.
