Abstract
The fundamental concepts of shadow and lighting provide a short exposition of the correlation between interior design and the application of the environment. The colors which were used are the hues of tinker light half for the celling, golden koi for the interior walls, pale daffodil for the crown moldings, tendril for the northern wall of the family room, milpa for the northern wall of the living room, breezy half for the southern wall of the kitchen and napkin white for the window trim and northern bathroom wall. There were seven colors that were harmonized in the interior décor of the renovated home. The color of a room is a primary component in its scale. A room that is smaller in size can be made to appear more expansive by the application of colors which are intimately correlated. The effects of color on interior design will be reviewed in this essay.
Colors in Interior Design
As the eye perceives a color, the reflection of the light provides immediate stimulations to the eyes. The blending of colors sets the mood. The colors of pale daffodil, golden koi, tinker light half, tendril, milpa, breezy half and napkin white were applied in the renovation of the interior design of the home. In order to optimize the light that is entering the home the colors which had a light hue were selected. This quality would allow the light to be reflected in the home and the shadows to be applied in order to create the illusion of expanded space (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
Lighting and hue are always in communication in the application of interior design. Light is an integral element in our lives. It may come in the form of sunlight or the shadows that are created by the lack of the light entering the room. Light reflects on the objects which are opaque. The objects that are residual in the application of light are delineated as shadows. The element of sunlight entering through the various bay windows and sliding doors provides a more calibrated tone (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
The sunlight that enters the room is the optimal form of lighting. The sunlight entering a space creates a perception of three dimensional spaces. The polarized bay windows should provide a balanced for of sunlight which can be administrated by the degree of tint applied to the windows by the electronic consoles which are located in the kitchen and the front door area. The opaque quality of the tinted windows should have the capacity of creating a light which is sun affected but not overbearing (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
The LED lighting which is applied in the home should have the effect of replicating the sunlight with regards to the colors. The dimmers which were applied could enable the LED luminescence to generate a bright light which can be varied according to the needs of the user. The rating or the values of the colors that are used are designated as the luma. The luma is the amount of napkin whiteness that the color manifests. The color value that is equivalent to zero percent would have a characteristic of not reflecting light. A color value that is equivalent to 100% would reflect all of the light. In the color scheme, pale daffodil and golden koi were blended for the exterior walls. The ceiling was given a tinker light half color (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
The LED luminescence would create an optimal source of point lighting during the evening hours. The capacity of being able to adjust the tints on the bay windows and the sliding doors window would allow the occupants to set the mood and the thermal qualities of the room. As the light is intensified, the colors would appear brighter with increased shadows on the objects. The fundamental endeavor of the selection of the interior colors is to apply the contrast of the uniform tenets. The color coordination is performed with regards to the peripheral elements in order to form a comfortable, practical and beautiful interior environment (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
The color of the environment enables the psychological aspect of the inhabitants to become affected. The colors have been demonstrated to have a psychological effect on the inhabitants of the room. Luma is defined as the image perception while considering its achromatic quality. The combination of earth colors which had a high value of luma was applied. The tendril and maple which were applied provides a perception of nature. The tendril and maple convey stability, harmony, growth, and freshness. The tendril and maple have recuperative power and is extremely soothing for the human ocular system. Tendril and maple are applied as a symbol of prosperity and wellbeing. The tendril and maple areas should provide recuperative effects to the home. In addition to the contrasting tinker light half ceilings, the tendril should enhance the perception of size in the room (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
The pale daffodil and golden koi were applied due to their propensity to create intellectual stimulation, energy, optimism and an assertive mood. The pale daffodil and golden koi tones that were applied in the interior walls should be an attention getter. The pale daffodil and golden koi used with the ability of being able to control the light which enters the room by means of the electronic window tinting should have the capacity of creating distinct moods in different light settings. The pale daffodil, golden koi and breezy half were applied in order to create an atmosphere of light and space. The kitchen should benefit from the application of the pale daffodil, golden koi and breezy half tones on the interior walls (Harrington & Carmen, 2010; Linton, 1999).
Conclusion
The color established the setting and mood. The applications of earth tones were considered in order to optimize the light that enters the rooms by means of the expansive window system. Napkin white was considered for the trim around the windows in the home and on the northern wall of the bathrooms. The tinker light half color was implemented on the celling. Breezy half was contrasted with the tinker light half on the southern wall of the kitchen. Milpa was installed on the northern wall of the living room. Tendril was used for the northern wall of the family room.
