Communication Between Nerves and Brain, Research Paper Example

Pages: 2

Words: 415

Research Paper

Skin is a very sensitive organ when different organs or organisms touch it. Touch is a near sense like pain, taste, and smell but unlike hearing and vision. Our hands and fingers use different movements to identify different characteristics. It is possible because of the nerve endings at the tips of the fingers. The nerve endings will send a message to the brain when one touches different objects, which are dangerous, or any other object. Texture identification is finer through touch as compared to other senses like hearing or seeing. It is because one can recognize objects without seeing or hearing. The question is how the brain can understand and interpret different messages when an individual touch objects. The mechanoreceptors are involved in detecting texture.  Pacinian corpuscles are large mylinated fibers located deep in the skin layers. Pacinian corpuscles are used to sense pressure and vibration. Merkel’s disks are mylinated fibers, which adapt slowly and are located in the hair follicles. Merkel’s disks are used to sense deep static touch like position and edges sense and sharp objects. Meissner’s corpuscles are located on the hairless skin, and they adapt quickly. It is used to sense fine and dynamic touch. Ruffini endings are located at hair follicles and are used to touch pressure.  All these mechanoreceptors are used to sense any object or any surface when the finger touches and the message is send to the brain for interpretation. The research will help in understanding how the messages are send through nerves from the fingers and hands to the brain and how different messages are interpreted. Mechanoreceptors are used to sense both on the hairless skin and hair follicles on the fingers and hands.

An individual will be exposed to different objects through touch such that the functioning of the nerves can be determined. When one is exposed to different tests using objects, which are sharp or any other surface of the object, he/she will react differently. More attention will be on the reaction when the message through nerves reaches the brain. Various scientific applications and operation will be incorporated to determine how the finger nerves work in case any danger or at normal circumstances. In the course of the research, previous researches will be used as references such that quality results; conclusions and recommendations will be made at the end of the current research.  At the end of the research, different interpretations made by the brain will have been understood and how it affects human beings.
